What's your favorite rifle

First rifle I ever shot was a 30-30 Winchester saddle gun made in 1902. Thought I was going to die since I didn't have a clue how to shoot any gun and nobody thought to explain it to me.

First rifle I owned on my very own was a badly sporterized No 4 Mk I Enfield (which believe it or not I still own). If I ever figure out the rail on it I'll scope it and actually hit a target with it

Now I own a few more rifles, mostly bolt rifles with a few semi-autos like an AK, SKS's and a Garand. Thought about getting an AR but too many bumps in the road money wise and it just didn't materialize. So maybe someday but just not this day.

I hear a lot about the accurizing to the nth degree of rifles so they can hit the target at 100 yards and all the stuff you've got to do - the scopes, the glassing, barrel, the proper mounting system for the scopes, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Funny thing is I can hit the target with a Enfield and a Parker Hale peep sight at 100 yards dead center every time - don't even need all that stuff. My brother is even better than me. And a real pro - my exboyfriend and his Swede - you don't even want him after you at anything under 600-700 yards because you will not be alive. And his gun is except for the scope pretty much stock. I've got an old Remington 700 in 30-06. It's the cheapest model they put out. I've got a off market scope on it (I love the scope though - lighted reticle and all). And out of the box that 30-06 hits the target every dang time at least for me. So what gives with all this accurizing stuff?

Okay I got a bit off topic there and that truly should be for another thread...

Back to the topic at hand. Your favorite rifle or the first one you ever shot... You know what the first one I shot was and later I'll post pictures of my favorite one. It's a beauty (though it's a toss up somedays with a real old sporterized rifle I have in 7mm - it's a gorgeous one too and a sweet shooter).

Wow, that is a tough one. My first centerfire, a .222 that my dad bought me, the next rifle he bought me a Rem. mod. 700. The one I can hit the best with. a stainless and synthetic Ruger bolt in .300 Win. Mag. topped with a 4x12x50 tactical Leupold. My AR, AK's which are really fun to shoot. That is just too tough a question. The most sentimental is the Rem. .222, the one I shoot the best, the Ruger. The most fun, well the AK that I built at the NETX build party. That is just too tough of a question, it makes my brain hurt just thinking about it.

I learned on a Remington .22 LR. Not sure the model but it was tube fed and semi auto. I was taught to shoot on the side of the road in Wyoming where a Farmer had a sign that said "Please, Shoot some Prairie Dogs Here!"

Lot of fun. I then remember a day with that same rifle where I completly exterminated the entire Frog population of a local pond.

Went to a 6MM rem for Deer after that and then a Rem 222 mag.

My favorite is going to be the WR carbine, right after my Kimber M82. My gawd, the Kimber is a hoot!! I think it is impossible to shoot it over 1 MOA :) .

Would have to say my AR, but my longest shot taken with a kill shot on target was with my Fulton Garand. 410 yds.

I too started on a Winchester 30/30, and I regret selling that gun. My fav is the Colt AR (military/LEO only) I bought last year at a great price new, and it has the removable handle, flash hider and collapsable stock. I put a EoTech 552 on it and have way more fun with it than I thought I would! :D

I figured I would wait until they get back from Camp Perry. I posted a message on WR the other day asking if anyone knew when Walt would be back.

My first was a .410, .22 O&U savage modle 24 with the selector on the side. I LOVED that gun and used to pizz off my brother in law and his friends with it as I was like 9 years old, with a .410 and they were in thier upper 20s, lower 30s and Ild shoot skeet with them, often back up. They would empty thier 12 ga pumps and not hit the clay then with it at full range and falling, this little kid with a .410 single shot would pop up and bust it. It was stolen when I lived in the city (same as all the guns I acumulated growing up) and the part that realy makes me sick is Im sure the thievs probably sawed it off into a pistol.
The one I am the best shot with is my .270 Winchester with a Wally world scope. Last time I sighted it in I was laying 5 shot groups at 100 meters that you could cover with a nickle, and have taken a deer with it at just over 500 yards, dropping her on the spot.
My favirot just depends on the day or the job. The 20 ga pump is what I grab to check the chicken house or for that bump in the night, the .357 is what lives on hte head board and is fun to shoot, the NEF 20 ga is the extension of my arm walking the farm also what lives in the truck 'just in case', the 10/22 Ruger is fun to shoot and what I can aford to practice with as well as what I use for head shots on the chickens at butchering time (quit chaseing them after wrenched a knee doing that, now just stand on the pourch and shoot them in the heads). So I dont realy have 1 favorite.

My first was a Marlin .22.I grew up at a time when the Cub Scouts still had a marksmanship program.I competed all over the state.I won a lot af ribbons and trophys.Too bad that isn't "PC" anymore.I also had an old break over single shot .410.I don't even remember what brand, but I took many a rabbit and quail with it.
My favorite now is probably my Maadi Griffin .50 BMG.I bought it as an 80% kit and built it myself. There is nothing like the thrill of shooting that much firepower.I love to watch people shoot it for the first time. That famous 50 cal grin is something to see. There are better .50s on the market and I would love to have a Barret someday, but that Maadi, that I built, will always be special to me.

My favorite rifle is any variant of the FN-FAL series. I don't know what it is about them but I am drawn to them like a moth to flame. The first rifle I ever owned was a Jap Type 99 from WW2 that I picked up at a garage sale when I was 13 years old. The guy sold it to me for $25, no questions asked. He didn't care about my age and I wasn't going to complain about it. It came with a bayonette also. Wish I still had them both. I'll never come across another deal like that.

My favorite is a Volquartsen .22 Mag with a Leupold 2.5 to 8 on it. It has the carbon fiber barrel and a McMillan stock. It will put five shots in 1/2 inch if I do my part. I probably shoot it more than all my other rifles combined. You can check them out at www.volquartsen.com

Guess my favorite is my Springfield M1A serial number X006, after that it is my Ruger 7722 with the leupold or my Savage model 10 tactical rifle...depends on which side of the bed I get up on.

What she said...because in all reality that's probably going to be what happens. We all may have our most favorite rifle, doesn't mean that's what is going to be available to us in a time of need.
