Not too sure we don't need another subforum for this sort of rubbish, but it is related to the election, even if a bit late. Just today, I got a broadcast e-mail from the White House Office of Presidential Correspondence. The message had to do with health care, and particularly with the goals that zero supports for the program. All nice. The things that got my attention was the phrase "as long as premiums are paid" and the stated intent to have the most open, accessible White House ever. They even provided a link to send a response, should you so desire. Well, I desired, and went to the link, and questioned what the premiums would amount to, and what penalties would obtain to those who chose to go bare, or couldn't afford the premiums. Last I heard, there would be a law, a requirement that everyone have insurance. And, I added a question about who is going to pay for illegal alien health care -- Now, I invite all to go here http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/?ec=9 and observe the selection of subjects that you get to pick from for your notes, an absolutely long menu. (N.B. tongue firmly planted in cheek.) Open? Transparent? Only if you want to hew to the line. And, you can actually request a response!!! (I suppose you don't need one if you are simply sending a message of support --) I bet I get one saying thank you for your note, but no answers worth having. You have a 2000 character limit for your message; that deterred me from lighting off on the messages that Congress wastes words and paper on. I wonder how many spammers got that note. I wonder how the White House obtained my address.
