Okay guys I have been reading and listening (Talk of the Nation Science Friday) to discussions on our food supply and rules we have governing it. Did you know that I f I were to raise goats and make cheese from the goats in my kitchen and then I sold the cheese. I would have to have a USDA approved kitchen, with a USDA approved Men and Women’s restrooms (that’s right 2 restrooms). But we don’t inspect or food imported from <st1:country-region><st1lace>China </st1lace></st1:country-region> “I don’t eat food from <st1:country-region><st1lace>China</st1lace></st1:country-region>” is what you are saying right? Well if you eat <st1:city><st1lace>Campbell</st1lace></st1:city>’s soup you are probably eating food from <st1:country-region><st1lace>China</st1lace></st1:country-region>. The wheat, carrots, onions, chicken etc… that is in the soup comes from <st1:country-region><st1lace>China</st1lace></st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region><st1lace>Chile</st1lace></st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region><st1lace>Argentina</st1lace></st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region><st1lace>Brazil</st1lace></st1:country-region>, the <st1:country-region><st1lace>US</st1lace></st1:country-region> and who knows where else. The oil your potato chips are cooked in comes from the same places. Pretty much anything you buy from someplace other than you locale farmers markets is imported from other countries. And if your local farmer is selling you jam from his blackberries he is breaking the law if he doesn’t have the USDA approved kitchen and restrooms. And has regular inspections even if he sells only 1 jar of jam a year. What do you think will happen when fuel prices or other economic disruption prevents the global or national (interstate) shipment of food? Do you know how far away you closest dairy is? How about slaughter house? Zombie hordes of starving people, riots dogs and cats playing together. Mass chaos will ensue! This is why I am being prepared. With the global economy being so closely tied together (A mortgage default in <st1:city><st1lace>L.A.</st1lace></st1:city> effects a bank in <st1:city><st1lace>Paris</st1lace></st1:city>) a seemingly locale event can create global chaos in short order.

Whatever it takes to get you out of your house long enough for them to "redistribute" whatever you managed to stow away. And they'll have just enough authority to do it.
