I have been in the progress of rebuilding my deck and my fencing since sometime last year (it seems to never end). The windstorms took down several sections of the fence last winter. It was 10 years old and I decided to rebuild it since it was showing its age with wood rot in several areas and a couple of broken 4X4 post. At the same time, I tore down my pergola and the deck it covered, back to just framing. I replaced a couple of joist that were twisting and I had to pull out and replace one of the main columns for the pergola, since it was rotted at the base.

We decided on this go around, to put a roof on the pergola. Our backyard is South facing and so it gets the brunt of sunshine all day in the summer, making it quite hot without any shade. It will also allow us to still use the deck during rainy periods as well. Everything is completed except some final paint on the column trim and touch up on the wood stain. This phase of the project will be done today.

I also started the patio project this week while I was on vacation and ripped up a 20X15 section of grass. I took 1,100 lbs of yard waste to the landfill yesterday....that was a PITA to load & unload. The Paver stones will arrive late next week and I have to get all the prep work going. Pictures to follow on how that progress's. :cautious:

    Great job Yard!
Many times it seems that the projects that are the biggest PITA end up being the ones that we enjoy the most.
I'd let you come out here and swing a hammer or wield a saw anytime you want;)

Oh, that wouldn't be a problem. My southern nurse also wields a mean spatula. If we were to build something she's been wanting she'd even do the beer run!
