    Preparation Instructions
    - Pour a cup of water into the saucepan and bring to a boil. Next, sprinkle the gelatin over the water and whisk until it has completely dissolved.
    - Add the salt, followed by the second cup of water. Whisk the mixture again and then set aside.
    - Next, add the essential oils and food coloring (if using) to a decorative heat-proof jar.
    - While the gelatin mixture is still hot, pour it into the jar and stir until the mixture is evenly colored. You can also add a splash of vodka into the mixture at this point to ensure your air freshener doesn’t go moldy.
    - Leave the jar uncovered and let the mixture cool on a heat-proof surface.

I used 30 drops of tea tree oil for moth control in the closet. We will see how it goes.

what was the volume/yield you got with these recipe's? 2 cups per? I've never bought oils, are they pricey?

I read it to the wife and she asked. As she is interested in everything of this type you post; don't blame me as we are both engineers.
Please attribute any issues to her not for my reading your post to her. Or as the old saying goes; don't kill the messenger. :)

Depends on the types of oils. For this recipe you can use basic oils. When you purchase essential oils that can be used internally then things get pricey. I purchase many of my oils that I use for aroma therapy from Wild Oats or Vitamin cottage. I know I can get them cheaper off line but once shipping is factored in it gets pricey.

@Ganado love this thread. And it is nice to be able to make your own rather then buy the toxic ones in the store.

Some essential oils require that you use more drops than others. For instance lavendar takes alot more essential oil for lotion than anyother essential oil. Its the same in the gel so if I want to smell like lavendar I just get the lavendar water and spray it on. Lavendar water is the distilled water left over after you distill the lavendar buds. (i can't remember what its called). I find the same with vanilla or any other floral essential oil.

So for these type of gel fresheners I use peppermint or orange or lime..... Something cheap and strong.

@Tikka have your wife join we need more good women!!!
