    Pray for our nation
    .
How difficult can it be to say one small heartfelt prayer each day, and to spread the word to family and friends to do the same? Not that difficult if you ask me. I will, and I won't forget.
    .
There has been one so called Preacher that's close to our current President. How many times have his words of God damn America burn't your ears and upset you? Maybe his verbal spew has had an effect. Why not counter act his words with your own? [dunno]
    .
Please help! What could it hurt? Pass on the link above along with your own personal message to others. Thank you. May God bless you and yours and our nation.

There is so much wrong with these two blogs. Scripturaly, they are misguided at best. But I don't have the time nor the inclination to refute them. Holy writ is full of exhortations to pray for our nation, our leaders, to pray for forgiveness for sin as a nation. And it doesn't matter if that nation is "called by my name". Scripture records many instances of nations and individuals outside the Israelite people who Yahweh forgave and lifted his righteous vengeance and condemnation from. Does Nineveh ring a bell? Or Nebuchadnezzar?
Might I suggest that one might benefit more from reading scripture itself than psuedo religious ramblings in the blogosphere.

Thank you Minuteman. I could not find the words for a reply to all the religious zealot postings that have flooded Survival Monkey. Seems no different to me than somebody posting nothing but Alex Jones' videos, it gets old.

I agree CC. I have been scarce of late and have been lax in moderating this forum but I intend to monitor it closely from here on. However, I do not intend to give an open forum and tiresome voice to those who only wish to engage in endless monotonous debate. Be they disciple or denier.

Of course we never have any problems with the agnostics. They don't care one way or the other. :D

My advice to all who wish to zealously spread the gospel according to YouTube is to read (and understand) Romans 14.

Paul clearly states that what is wrong to one person may not be wrong to another. Now this isn't a PC, live and let live doctrine. There are certain things that are strictly forbidden and condemned. Murder, lying, stealing, etc. But Paul confronts the gray areas of life in this chapter. If you believe it to be wrong, and you engage in it, then you are held accountable. You are guilty of sin. But if I do not believe that it is wrong, and I engage in it, then I am held guiltless. BUT, there's always a but, if I encourage or influence you to engage in something that you believe to be wrong then I am just as guilty as you.

Now I happen to believe that it is wrong to celebrate mans "holidays". And I don't. But I don't condemn those who do. It is their choice and their personal decision. I believe that it is important to use the holy names of our creator and our savior. But many don't and I do not judge their decision. It is between the creator and them.

The sin of gluttony is most often interpreted to mean over eating or drinking. But in the original language it has a much broader definition. It means to be over indulgent in anything. To submerge oneself in anything is gluttonous. Be that conspiracy theory or religious doctrine.

The only doctrine in Christiandom that is mandatory and irrefutable is that our Savior gave his life for us and through the blood of his sacrifice we have redemption from our sin and are washed clean and found worthy to enter the kingdom of God.

All else is secondary and subjective.

Has God Said to Not Pray for America?

Has God Said to Not Pray for America?

We are told in in I Thessalonians to “pray without ceasing” yet there are times when we are to cease from praying for certain people under certain circumstances. Three times in the book of Jeremiah God told Jeremiah to not pray for the people:

    • Therefore do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them, nor make intercession to Me; for I will not hear you. (Jeremiah 7:16)
    • So do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry out to Me because of their trouble. (Jeremiah 11:14)
    • Then the LORD said to me, “Do not pray for this people, for their good. (Jeremiah 14:11)
We might think that this was awfully cruel on God’s part – after all, what if they had wanted to repent? However, when we consider what they were doing then things come into focus:
Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? (Jeremiah 7:17)
The children gather wood, the fathers kindle fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven. And they pour out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger. (Jeremiah 7:18)
MolechFlame. Ancient Abortion - Burning Image of Molech with baby

Lest we think that God destroyed them for merely making some cakes…and because the God of Israel is some kind of I-am-insecure-in-my-godhood kind of God consider the atrocities that they were doing in relation to this queen of heaven and the other gods that they were worshiping:

And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind. (Jeremiah 7:31)
Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents, and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind- (Jeremiah 19:4, 5)
God was patient with Judah giving them time to repent of their actions. He sent them prophets telling them to change their ways. Though there were brief moments of repentance, the nation continued in its rebellion and thirst for blood.
So, if that is what God did with His own people Israel, whom He had chosen to be the recipients of the Oracles of God, then what should we expect here in America where we have aborted millions and millions of babies? Do we really think that God is just going to pass us by? The question I wrestle with is how should I pray for America? When I see all of the disasters happening how should I pray? Can I really pray for mercy when we kill our own young in the womb! In the ancient world unwanted babies were given to false gods to be burned, something, we tell ourselves that we would never do. And yet, are we not

committing an even worse atrocity? We have gone far beyond what the ancients were doing …we have mastered the practice by making it respectable, and “about choice” – it has become convenient. Still, there is a precious life in the womb made in God’s image. We don’t burn the baby outside of the womb in the burning hot arms of Molech while the drums are beating but in the tranquility of a nice sterile operating room with a nurse telling the woman that it is OK because it is her body and she has the right to choose – all the while the baby

inside her is being either sucked apart, pulled apart of burned with a saline solution! God cares about the preborn and to date there have been over 50 million according to Answers.com! “Abortion statistics are never specific, as the procedure is protected under the right to privacy laws. However, it has been estimated that 3,000 are done daily. If you multiply that by the number of years that aborion has been legal, you get a large number. If you’re curious, I guess you could multiply 3,000 x (years abortions has been legal) x 365 (to show the daysin those years) + 3,000 x a few days (for Leap Days). If you’re not satisfied with this answer (I’m not), check this out. The Alan Gutmacher Institute, a leading proponent of abortion on demand, claims that there have been more than 50 million abortions in the U.S. since Roe Vs. Wade.”
So, the question remains: what is God going to do about America? Is our former righteousness sufficient? I think not. Even Israel and Judah’s elect status was not enough to save them from judgment. I believe that America will be judged in the very near future and it has perhaps already begun. People may still repent and be saved but I believe that the age of God’s blessing in America is at an end. If we look back to the days of Jeremiah, we might say that the Babylonians have already begun marching and will be here soon. Now is the time to get right with your Creator.

    You're wrong;

    I Timothy 2:1-3

"I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men;for kings and all that are in high place(office); that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.
This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour."

Elsewhere we are told to "pray without ceasing". We are told that praying for our people will turn away the wrath of God. Even if we are guilty of sin.
    I Kings ch 8:33-53

And we are warned about those who would twist the scriptures..

I Timothy 4:1-2 "...turn away to fables"

I Timothy 1:6-7 "desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm.

II Peter 2:1-3 "...there shall be false teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies" They will "..make merchandise of you."

So to take one verse out of the poetical book of Psalms and claim that scripture says we can only pray for Jerusalem is ludicrous and a severe distortion of scripture. That is the problem with these youtube, facebook, internet preachers, they twist and misquote scripture to fit their own agenda. They attempt to "make merchandise of you".

I don't want to throw up a stumbling block to anyone's spiritual walk, but only to warn you to be vigilant and to "prove all things". Have a Berean mind and "search to see if a thing is true or not".

The first thing I usually say when I give a talk or a sermon on a subject is "Don't believe a word I say". This takes people aback but I am serious.

Search out for yourselves what is true and what is correct. Don't take anyone, preacher or lay persons word for what scripture says. It is too easy, through selective quoting, to make it say whatever you need it to say to support your position. God bless, MM

It appears to me that you are here for religious beliefs, as you seem to only post in the Faith and Religion Forum of Survival Monkey. Please tell me that you have other thoughts, ideas or information that you could share other than copy and pasted religious postings. I hope I'm wrong and that you have more than this to offer to the forum. This is a survival forum not a bible camp retreat forum.

ETA: Sorry MM if I'm out of line.

Not at all CC. This is first and foremost a survival site and this only a sub forum. To come here and only post in one select forum shows that member (whoever they are) is not interested in the site as a whole but only in having a soap box for their own agenda.

And Skyking, it doesn't matter what font size you put it in, it's still wrong.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that your heart is true and that you only wish to share the good news with others. The almighty will bless the effort I'm sure. But the way you go about it only leads to turning people from the truth of the Gospel not towards it.

This thread was a simple appeal to pray for our nation. A very good and nice sentiment. But you come in and post links to very scipturally inaccurate blogosphere ramblings that seek to tell people how unenlightened and wrong they are. How does that serve any purpose? How does that glorify our Lord or our message. Who does it edify?

You have your opinions and your views and you are certainly welcome to express them. But your means of "showing" those who don't agree with you the error of their ways is not at all a proper or welcomed approach.

Now as I stated above " I do not intend to give an open forum and tiresome voice to those who only wish to engage in endless monotonous debate. Be they disciple or denier." And since I have engaged in this debate myself I will amend that to "disciple, denier or moderator."

This thread has been hijacked from it's OP and it is time to return it to it's intended purpose before it ends up being locked.

I agree, praying for America, praying for troops, praying for politicians are all important and something we should do regularly. I believe we are near the end times and in one way what happens happens, things will probably degrade more than they are now, these things must come to pass but that doesn't mean we shouldn't pray for America, the world, Israel.

God loves everyone, he sent his son for all of us, including sinners.

It's easy to point the finger and blame others but something I have started to realize is when reading the Bible and learning about the mistakes of others, like the children of Egypt for example, I'm just as guilty in some way or the other, what idols do we have in our lives that we won't let go of, I don't mean gold cows or something like that but if we are honest with our selves we all have things in our life that we put before God and need to let go of.

I try to learn from the mistakes people made from the examples in the Bible, look at myself to see where I am missing it, confess, repent and ask the Lord to help me overcome.
