For those of you that cannot see the Inferno, it has to do with racism; not particularly offensive, but expresses some opinions. It triggered my curiosity about what races/nationalities are represented on this forum. So the question, then: Where did your ancestors call home?

For the record, I'm of German stock arriving here in the 1700s, with a few other hyphens thrown in for leavening. About all that is left of any of the hyphens is my surname. I'd have it no other way; besides, who cares?

I can see that some might be less than enthusiastic about posting this sort of information for one reason or another. Might be a blind poll would be a better way to dredge up a sampling, but the number of possibilities is way big for that.

My maternal grandmother arrived here from France in 1911 when she was 13. My maternal grandfather arrived here from France in 1910 when he was 15. They met in the U.S. and married in 1917. My mother was their firstborn and born in 1918. A son born in 1919 died of Muscular Dystrophy in 1937.

My paternal grandmother and grandfather were already married when they immigrated from Ireland in 1912. My father was one of six children, 3 of whom, including my Dad who was next to the youngest, were born in the U.S.

    Interesting question ghrit.

Dad's family are all big block headed Germans. Mom's folks are a mix of Scottish and American Indian. Great Grandmother was a full blooded Choctaw. Spoke the language and knew every kind of root or leaf to boil up to cure what ailed you.
