You may remember me talking about it elsewhere... 207 acres, House built with lots of Passive Solar, couple old cabins and a couple working barns Was Cistern fed from the roof collectors and the guy estimated 700 gallons of water an hour during a hard rain. It was around $500K. I did the math and he wanted 1500 an acre and the house was around 150ish. Give or take. Obviously I had to pass on the deal. It sold and the new owner went to dig a well up by the house. He didn't like the Cistern idea At 900 ft he hit Natural Gas. The drillers could hear it bubbling through the water! It's back on the market at $1.5 million now. The mineral rights came with the house the first time around. Not sure about now. Would have been the ultimate Retreat with that gas well
Wow, dude. Down here you can get a piece of crap 100' lot with a single story matchstick and mortar hut on a canal front property in the middle of the sand for no less than 800k. Welcome to sunny Florida! I woulda loved to get that setup.
Ah you wouldn't have liked it, that stuff just smells your yard up! Would have been cool to have an eternal flame fountain though!!!

On the OTHER hand, if the guy hadn't hit gas in his water well, at 900', he would have been trying to figure out how he was gonna get 3 phase power up there to run the pump to get it out of that hole.....ahahahahahaaaa
That was my thought... I call it quits at 510' Pumps and wire get a bit more pricey farther than that. I heard the drillers were telling him that as well.
Exit 30 is the thriving metropolis of Baileyton ( don't blink you'll miss it )....not too awful far from me. Suprised about gas there....hadn't heard of anyone hiting gas anywhere around here. Some geological survey outfil did go thru here some years back 'thumping' the ground with a big thumper on a truck and taking readings on seismic meters at different locations hunting potential gas strata.....but I never heard of anyone drilling for it....think there is a lot down in middle TN though.... Neighbor of mine drilled his 720' to get a whopping 1/2gal/min.....and every well around him is in the 200-300' range.....man, I'd have been crying the blues. Well drilling sure IS a crap shoot. I had one drilled here at the house this fall as a backup to my spring.....4th well I've had drilled on various properties and hopefully the LAST one.
I'm getting in excess of 60 gpm @ 267 ft. I was lucky enough to tap into a great ground source. Anything in excess of 30 gpm has to be registered with the town as an emergency source. I should have sent them a bill for half the drilling and pump
Melbo, buy up all the neighboring property (with mineral rights) and I'll come out there and drill some wells for you. We'll start our own oil & gas company. Monkey Oil Company!!!
Major differences in Hydrology from region to region RH. In Michigan, our wells were all under 300ft as you just had to tap into the "Underground Lake". Here we bore holes in water bearing rock and hope it seeps in to fill them. The refresh rates are lower here to as a rule. We hit a 30 Gallon per minute once. Everyone was excited and talked about being able to run 10 homes off of it. That is Very common here too, Shared wells. Expecially if I am building on 3 adjacent lots. If I hit a good one, all 3 units share that well. minuteman, the land there is pretty cheap... If one hit gas, you'd think others would be able to find the same pockets?
Hydro Fracturing doesn't work here. Rock generally is to soft to 'crack' and just expands the hole. At least that's what my Well Driller tells me. He sells "HF" too, just told me not to waste my money on it. Hydro Fracturing is the process of adding high pressure 'air' into the well until the rock starts to crack. This will hopefully increase the flow of water from the new cracks in the bore
