Took a break for a while because I had a lot going on in my personal life. We are getting closer to actually being able to move somewhere, so now is a good time for me to start trying to learn some more from this group. My girls and I are in WA and will hopefully be homesteading somewhere in this state (hoping for the east side, but not sure I want to take the girls that far away from their dads side of the family yet) in the next year or so. I think being fully off grid would be beyond my capabilities as a single mom with three girls right now (but maybe not?), however I want to be prepared should SHTF and I got some great ideas and help from you guys last year. We already have chickens and do as much as we can for being in the city to be self sufficient. I look forward to getting back in to things here!
Hard decision @Leeuhhh stay near family where you will have help if needed plus having the children have family in their lives is important. But having security, living your dream and making a new life is also important. It is hard to be in that phase where you know the goal but the time is not right. Welcome back!
As far as the kids' dad, he's kind of a control freak. Right now he has two afternoons a week with them, which throws everyone off and to me seems pointless because the kids would rather stay here and play instead of having to leave for three hours to dads house and come back. They love him but its just too much back and forth. The eastern side of the state is not that far away, but he will fight me for those two afternoons, and last time I went to court with him I lost, so I have to consider whether or not its worth the stress of a court fight. As far as the kids well being though, they would be just fine and just get longer chunks of time with him less frequently. I have family on the eastern side of the state that I am closer with than over here on the western. Sorry that turned in to a major rant! lol!
Well shucks, ma'am, I can help ya'll out with that. I can offer PERSONALIZED attention to each and every fertile female monkey here to try to expand the population of like-minded female monkeys. I know, I know...I don't have to do it, but gosh darn it, I think it's my duty! Just doin my job, ma'am. (had to get that in before my voice gets changed to much higher octave) Nice to meet ya, Leeuhh...I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way.
Hahahahahahaha chimo. I think we will end up in kind of the Roy/ Yelm area. Our budget is pretty tight so it will take a bit to find something, but I am excited!
I know that area well, as my GodFather had a Quarter Section out passed Four Corners, on Fennel Road, and I grew up spending weekends, out there, as did my Brother. (the Engineer). That is beautiful country...
I think that's just about the best area ill be able to find for what suits my needs. It's nice there and there are people who are more like minded (as far as the western side of the state goes). I don't have anything against hippies, but man there are a lot of them in the cities here in western wa lol! When the kids are grown and I have more freedom I am going to go somewhere warm!
I work in Lynnwood ~1-2 weeks per month. As BT knows I already have my CCW there. The place is a cesspool of liberal leftist ideology. The fact the Seattle is charging a $25 per gun tax and 5¢/ round on ammo sold is frickin nuts.
