hey folks i got a question for you.i am looking for militery style bunk beds.the kind that have the flat metal going across and are fastened to the side with springs.these bunks are tough.i need a set for my spare room.where can i find a set of them at?????? thanks for any help.
I'll appologize from the start that I am not going to give you the answer that you want, but I will try to give you an answer you can work from. The only time things of that specific of a nature come to are when bases are demolishing the old barracks that they would have come out of. You will need to find a base that still has WWII style barracks that haven't been destroyed yet and I can tell you that in my travels of military bases, they are almost all completely gone. Those beds either get turned into DRMO as scrap, or are destroyed with the buildings. I am a Surplus hopper, meaning that when I travel, I hunt surplus stores down and I can't say that I have ever seen any other than the onesy-twosy that someone had found and used as a display. I had found a surplus warehouse that sells in bulk to other surplus stores and I have to call on some other items, I will ask a question for you. I also would look in areas that have older prisons as they tended to use surplus bunks for thier facilities. I would also put a add on eBay, this is going to be one of those items that you luck into. Good luck with your search, if I can think of anything else, I'll drop in again.
thanks sniper.....i figured this would be a hard to find item, as i have not been able to find a hint of a trail on a set.those bunks are tough.the u.s.f.s. has/had tons of the things.i will have to check with those folks.thanks
Try the bigger surplus websites - I have seen some medical bunks once that were being sold - that was a few years back, but maybe some are still gathering dust in a warehouse? Look at Sportsman's Guide, they often get in small lots of odd surplus items. Give them a call if their online catalog doesn't show an item you need. If you can get or make drawings or plans, you could have a good welder make what you need.
Great site. Now I know where to get my mod sleep system from. Should see the new bunks they have. Solid steel with a gym mat on it. Great for not tearing up, hard if you need soft bed.
