Hi all! I’ve always been someone who doesn’t like being outside. Growing up I never wanted to go camping or fishing or anything like that. Had a bad phobia of bugs and honestly just hated everything about nature.

Now that I’m older, I’ve been watching a lot more outdoor shows and been spending a lot more time outdoors (at the park nothing crazy). My question is, what can someone like myself do to scratch that itch. Has anyone ever tried a diet that is more “survival” like or something like that. I basically want to try some outdoor stuff without diving in head first.

    Thank you.

Grab you some camping gear,, and a fishing pole ,,, ,, head out to a lake or a pond and spend the night. Take a bottle of water , and a can of pork and beans ,,, catch yourself a couple of fish ,, cook them up over the campfire and eat'em .
The best way to learn ,, is the hard way .
After youve caught and eaten them fish ,,, try and figure out how youre gonna catch them fish without that fishing pole ,, or that can of beans.
    You'll be on your way.

Welcome aboard from coastal North Carolina.

Closest to a survival diet would be Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint diet. It's oriented more toward natural foods, stuff with no more than three ingredients. Along with the diet is the exercise plan, and that'll get you outside at least once a week. Well, unless you have a seventy yard long hallway you can safely run sprints in.

Overnight camping is great. Walking trails, bicycling, kayaking. Any outdoor activity will tend to lead to more of the same.

    Welcome from Alabama.
I grew up on a farm, Boy Scout, hunting, fishing, and Civil War re-enactor, so I have no problem being outdoors. you can't camp in the backyard, because the house is right there. You need to travel an hour away from home to a campground. You don't have to spend a bundle on camping equipment, you can get a tent, sleeping bag, and insect repellent at Wal-Mart for less than $100. As a Civil War re-enactor, I just roll up in a wool blanket and sleep under the stars, but I still use the insect repellent.
