Numyth Fire Piston by Going Gear™ This is a fantastic, bulletproof fire piston and I don't ever see myself breaking this tool. It will undoubtedly last me forever. The Numyth fire piston very similar in shape to a mini-Mag Light, if you've ever held one you will know what I mean. It's very light, made from aluminum, and weighs in at less than 2 oz. The top end opens to reveal a hidden chamber, complete with a rubber 'O' ring to seal it tight, and can hold an ample amount of char material or extra rubber rings. The Numyth fire piston comes with extra rubber rings, and is very well made. A small, plastic container with lube is also provided for the compression rings, and it all comes in a handy plastic bag which seals for expedient use. It only took me the first try to get a glowing ember with this piston, too. You can open the opposite end to replace the piston for storage, and to clean if necessary. The version I have is the first one they started with, or version 1. The new version 2 is modified with knurling for added grip and an orange color option, too. Numyth Fire Piston V2 Features Aluminum alloy construction Hard anodized type III coating (ember orange or granite gray) O-ring sealed watertight tinder capsule O-ring sealed tube cap Double piston o-rings Square threads for long life and reliable use One piece when not in use Removable tube cap for easy cleaning and storage Imported Included Items Vulcan Fire Piston Zippered plastic storage pouch Instructions Spare o-rings Lubrication How good is it at starting an ember? Well, does first time, every time sound too good to be true? I suppose there may be times when that's not true, but it's extremely easy to do. Nice review... sounds like an awesome tool... I love the science behind fire pistons... Good stuff @Brokor
It's been working fine. Took me two tries to get an ember just recently. I took out the fire kit and decided to go through and see what was inside since I hadn't used it in a while. I checked the website and they still aren't selling them any longer it seems.
