This is a fantastic, bulletproof fire piston and I don't ever see myself breaking this tool. It will undoubtedly last me forever. The Numyth fire piston very similar in shape to a mini-Mag Light, if you've ever held one you will know what I mean. It's very light, made from aluminum, and weighs in at less than 2 oz. The top end opens to reveal a hidden chamber, complete with a rubber 'O' ring to seal it tight, and can hold an ample amount of char material or extra rubber rings. The Numyth fire piston comes with extra rubber rings, and is very well made. A small, plastic container with lube is also provided for the compression rings, and it all comes in a handy plastic bag which seals for expedient use. It only took me the first try to get a glowing ember with this piston, too. You can open the opposite end to replace the piston for storage, and to clean if necessary.

The version I have is the first one they started with, or version 1. The new version 2 is modified with knurling for added grip and an orange color option, too.

How good is it at starting an ember?

Well, does first time, every time sound too good to be true? I suppose there may be times when that's not true, but it's extremely easy to do.

It's been working fine. Took me two tries to get an ember just recently. I took out the fire kit and decided to go through and see what was inside since I hadn't used it in a while. I checked the website and they still aren't selling them any longer it seems.
