Is there a particular date or time segment when anyone knows would be a problem or and ideal time? Figure may as well try and make it for a time when the most folks are likely to be able to make it.

OK, so it looks like this will have enouph folks interested to do it. Next question is when we want to do it which has so far been narrowed down to some time in June or July. Im thinking along the lines of a weekend and if folks can make it for Fri and or Mon then great and even if someone wants to show up Thurs afternoon or evening, or however works, but basicly that it would be centered around Sat and Sun with anyone who can encouraged to make it for Friday and stay for Monday. Since about half the folks are comeing from up north I dont know that July would be the best idea, I know relatives who used to visit from the Dakotas were always absolutely miserable with the summer heat here so am kind of leaning toward June. The weather in spring here is quite unpredictable with lots of rain up to at least memorial day weekend but if that would work best for everyone we could do then or any of the weekends of June. It really dosnt make a lot of difference to me which dates we choose other than that I want to try and set it for a time when there wont be scheduleing conflicts for anyone who want to come, so any preferances or sugestions?

I will need to know at least 6-8 weeks in advance...I have not been at this job long enough that I get what I ask for....

The heat is not a factor for me....I'm used to 90+ temps.....So either late Spring, or Summer is good for me......

    But I'm in......

Well how dose Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday sound to everyone? Say June 9,10,11,12? By that time the weather should be stabalized in a reasonably comfortable range and not AS likely to be stormey as earlier in the spring and not as hot as later. Any time in June is fine but if this works for everyone then we will go for that, if not let me know and we can see about adjusting accordingly.

One thing I hadnt really even consider. Dose anyone here fly their own plane? I hadnt heard about it but if anyone comeing dose have a bush plane or whatever there is also a small private strip maybe a mile or so down the road from our place so if thats an issue for anyone let me know and may be able to get a landing strip for you to use.

    RSVP?

Well I guess we will go for June 9-12. The next thing I need to find out is who all plans to try to come (even if its not real for sure but planing on it) and how many are coming along. I figure will try and have pig to butcher for eatin as well as some sides and so on, also depending on how many are coming may see about a Johny on the spot or something so just kind of need to know who thinks they will make it and how many in group (spouse kids whatever) so can get an idea what to get set up as well as how much of the area needs mowed for camping areas and so on.

Cool, like I say even if its still kind of tentative let me know it you plan on trying to make it. Main thing is to know how much food to figure on.

food we can do. If we can make it, mm, we can handle the chow... don't feel like you need to host a Gala

I'll bring some big cans of beans, and we can do the "Blazing Saddles" opening scene thing.

mm, if you have some flat ground free of cow patties for tents, a hole in the ground for application of future fertilizer, and a proper backstop for sniping at MT cans, that is all you need. Don't sweat food, this crew will eat up your winter supplies if you let us. I think it is plenty enough neat that you are willing to have a bunch of folks you've never met descend on you. ;)

Well ,I aint planing anything to big for food, basicly figure on seeing about a cheap pig or possibly 2 to put on a spit over the fire pit or in a smoker if can borrow one, and beyond that maybe a tub of slaw, baked beans and tater salad and most likely biscuits and gravey for breakfast. Basicly cheap and easy stuff. Figure once folks get here if wanted we can probably run the 30 miles or so to Sedalia if nothing else where Bud has a plant and see about a keg as long as everyone can avoid blowing the place up or getting me in trouble or what not. lol
The land is mostly on a slight slope toward the creek then goes back up a ways before the property line so shooting toward the low area isnt a problem.
Have the foundation to a walk out basement and works well to set a barrel on the stand above the window with a shower attachment on the end of a hose from it and while its just heated by the air and any solar it can catch makes for a shower if we toss up a curtian.
The other thing would just be that if there was going to be to many folks then there may need to be something tossed up in the way of an outhouse (will probably do that anyway) but depending on the number of folks may need to have a couple of cut off barrels set up to go under it and some desil on hand to burn it off with.
So like I say just trying to get an idea of how many to expect. I have a general idea based on who has responded on who may try to make it but am not sure on how many are in each persons family and how many will bring the spouses and kinds or whatever so just kind of trying to be sure its not a matter of expecting 15 and haveing 50-75 or visa versa.
Oh and so I know how much of the flatter ground I need to have mowed for tents and such.
Kind of figure lunches will either be fend for yourself or some bread and condoment and leftovers for the pig set out. Figure can also take some leftovers of the pig for ham and beans or chillie or something. Its rare I would have to pay over $50 tops for a 100 pound pig and with any luck (or looking) can generaly find a 500 pound pig for that.
As far as eating all the winter supplies, hell I doubt this bunch would eat the 2 rear hams in the freezer in less than a long weekend. The hog we just butchered gave us 2 hams around 35+ pounds each that got tossed in the freezer that size for get togethers and such. We do enouph for ourselves that food isnt all that expensive for us most of the time, beverages as far as soda or whatever though will most likely be up to you all.
