Question for the Tea Partiers hanging around here

I have noticed that there has been very little discussion on this board regarding the three ring circus going on right now due to the debt ceiling.

Are you supporting the current "agreement" that Washington is touting?

The reason why I ask this is because I am wondering if the announcement by Obama,Reid, and Boehner that they have reached a deal is really just a way to strong-arm the fiscally conservative folks in the House to vote for this thing. It seems to me that this deal truly doesn't have any substance whatsoever.

It seems to me that the Tea Party should hold there ground and let the date of 8/2 go by and prove that it is complete "bullS&^%" about the world collapsing.

I am wondering what ya'll think.

Well, several people far moer knowledgeable than I have already been on the news and answered that question...IT IS TOTAL BS! They keep moving the date, there is NO way on this earth that the US would default. Downgraded by Moody and S&P, no doubt, but look at where they are coming from and you'll have the answer! (The truth)
It's all a bunch of yutz! Or they are!

Just more smoke and mirrors and planned cuts that will never materialize. There is little discussion since the writing seems tobeon the wall

I think both sides need to give a bit... the tea partiers /republicans need to allow some tax modification for special interests ( big oil, pharma companies, etc)... i.e. get rid of it... and the dems need to do sometyhing to help reign in entitlement programs...and every one needs to realize that we as a country need to live within our means...

    2.1 trillion is immediate

The cuts will be over the next decade.

Just what is so important they need to borrow 2.1 trillion to pay for it?

I've been watching that closely. Its quite entertaining. I think 68 Republicans voted neigh in the House. They voted in line with their constituency (ie did their job) and that makes them "terrorists". WTF?

Not to mention the large part of the American population that those reps represent. Are they all "terrorists" too?

If you vote your conscience, you are a "terrorist".
(I'll take those terrorist over a commie any day ;))

My take on the situation is this- I wouldn't cut Medicaid/Medicare. I wouldn't cut Social Security. I would make more than those 42% (sorry 58%) pay some taxes. I would cut spending elsewhere. An example is the special interest lobbyists that have us funding shrimp on treadmills (I think everyone has heard of that one). I would reduce waste in agencies and downright cut positions in agencies that disregard the Constitution and jockey for funding my misrepresenting situations (Gunrunner comes to mind). I would stop pouring money into nation building. Its a good thing, but not during an economic crisis. If your country is dumb enough to f with us during a bad economic time, we should devastate and leave... sorry. I would stop funding a lot of military contracting in terms of "niceties". We really don't *need lobster once a week in the chow hall. IMHO it downright hurts the mission as patrols start rotating around hot chow and Xbox.

There many ways to cut spending and not threaten the people that DO deserve those social programs. There are some that take advantage in those social programs. I think they should be taken care of, including illegals.

This problem has so many points, I can't list them all here. We could start a gov't waste thread, but we might exceed the bandwidth of SM. :)

What the Tea Party has done between 2010-now is remarkable. I know where my vote will be in 2012. They are doing well, despite being outnumbered. ALL Republicans are watching and fearing for their seats. The Libtards are calling us terrorists... must be doing something right.

Libs try to turn the tables and call people who disagree with the goon in the White house "terrorists," while labeling themselves patriots. However, not more that 5 short years ago, they were disagreeing with the White House and calling themselves "Patriots."

I can't believe people don't see through their drivel and fire the lot of them...dems and republicans.

According to their line of logic, the founders of this country were "terrorists," and many were hanged for it. I guess they would rather be bowing to the queen. Democrats have no clue what a "Patriot" is.

O'Reilly is all over those "terrorist" comments.

The funniest response was "they won't call real terrorists 'terrorists.'"

    Despicable.

how much would the deficit drop by cutting elected officials perks wages and bennies?
NASA, HAARP, all military experiments for weapons, obummers flying cars
all that excess garbage should lose funding until we are back in the black
when things are tight you cut out waste, not essentials
and as far as im concerned our elected reps are all waste right now

I find it funny they resorted to scare tactics on Social Security checks not going out. Real leaders would have said "we won't accept pay if SS won't be paid". Not a word of it. Anyone remember "Glory"? The funny thing about these self-proclaimed "leaders", they ain't.

Everyone is claiming Obama has shown lack of leadership for one reason... he isn't one. His background doesn't support it. He is no Eisenhower, Kennedy, Ragan, or George Washington. These men were leaders. IMHO, there is a prerequisite missing from the minimum qualifications for President (COMMANDER in Chief).

The only thing averted was blowing through the debt ceiling. We have not averted the coming financial train wreck. This is a total joke. 49% of the idiots in this country don't know what, how , why, any of this affects them. They are too busy waiting for Obama to pay for their gas and make their house payment.

Well, time for the down grade. Maybe that will jerk people's collars a bit....at least the collars of those who count.

When TSHTF and the Big Fall comes, we will see the "terrorists" are in DC....... It won't be the "Tea Partiers" calling for Marshall Law and 'cracking down' on good people.
My view is that obozo is the First Terrorist in DC, and the Liberal Party (they stopped being 'democrats' long ago) are his cabal, cell, whatever...... They are far more dangerous than Al Qaeda, the Taliban and Hamas all rolled into one.
In a perfect world obozo, reid and pelosi would be tarred, feathered and duckwalked into Fort Leavenworth for the rest of their un-natural lives...... The High Crimes they have committed are the stuff of legend. Atilla The Hun never had it so good.

Now when it blows it will be 17 trillion instead of 14 trillion. I think The Tea Party line is admirable. I cast my lot with this type of group. But I fear its too late to stop what is coming. KF

New debt targets ( they aren't "limits" since they never stop.....70 raises in 50 years ) mean gold goes right with them.

The new current target means gold 1950 or better within two years.

    Gold%20Debt%20Ceiling%20.

Until there's a balanced budget requirement in place (like we all have to deal with in our personal finances) that trend will continue.

Sometimes a "trainwreck" is called for, to end the insanity.
I hope something gives, before the seams burst!
If that happens, I am heading for that cave!
I think ( been wrong before) that we would see a horrific decline in morality ( more than ususal) and an insurrection that makes Libya look like a bake sale!
We could be facing a dilemna sinister in cause and effect, likened only to an "UNCIVIL" war. Those employed by the goober would be in a bad way.....
    FAST.

I can only find one problem with a balanced budget Amendment to the CONSTITUTION. Make it law sure. The government should not be able to spend more then it takes in but as a constitutional amendment it could hurts us bad. For intance invasion, war, Disasters etc. You hit the end and sorry pal let em invade we cant spend the money. I think we need a war amendment forcing the congress to declare war, oh wait we have that but they just go around it. Im not sure guys about tying the hands of those who are supposed to protect us. A constitutional balanced budget amendment sounds good but on paper I see where it could cost us dearly. Its a difficult decision. Im glad its not being voted on right now. More study into laws about spending. Why not just pass a bill limiting spending by the government to what it takes in? Then limit what it takes in[winkthumb] Kf
