I found this today.A group of people on a high rise building in downtown NO.They have been posting reports since day one of the hurricane.It is very interesting reading.And lots of pics and cam footage.The guy doing the posting is ex military and he has taken charge and set up a pretty good (under the circumstances) command post. http://www.livejournal.com/users/interdictor/2005/08/28/
WOW! What a read. Photos told a story of their own. Most of those bugging out didn't have high tech gear or even weapons. Makes me wonder if I would look like a target with my internal frame pack, chest rig, & AR. I think I would be caught between the cops who would view me as a threat, and the looters who would view me as a prize. Might want to rethink my wardrobe...... phishi
I would definatly go a bit more low profile at least to get out of town. Have a hand gun under a shirt tale and maybe an old single shot shotti in hands if it seemed needed then if you have it put the high end battle weapon in the pack for later, and be in solid but grungy to tattered looking everyday cloths and well worn hikeing boots, dont look out of place and you draw a lot less attention, less attention= less fire.
