The survey, commissioned by cable television's Oxygen Network that is owned and operated by women, found the technology gender gap has virtually closed with the majority of women snapping up new technology and using it easily.

"People make the assumption that women are not as advanced as men when it comes to technology and I was surprised at the parity men and women now have in terms of technology," Geraldine Laybourne, chairman and chief executive of Oxygen Network, told Reuters.
The Girls Gone Wired survey of 1,400 women and 700 men aged 15 to 49, which was conducted by market researcher TRU, found that given the choice, women would opt for tech items rather than luxury items like jewelry or vacations.

The study found 77 percent of women surveyed would prefer a new plasma television to a diamond solitaire necklace and 56 percent would opt for a new plasma TV over a weekend vacation in Florida.

CRC, you know you can't have it. According to the poll, women are into either diamonds and furs or technology. There's no middle ground. You are just oddball out. :D

I have always thought that some women are just as electronic savvy as some men. Not true for all women and not true for all men. Put no faith in these here polls. Also beware the sign ahead. 'Here there be polls.'

What's the deal with this poll anyway? 1400 women and 700 men were asked. Does that seem square to anyone? Does it take 2 women for every 1 man to fill out a poll? Where do these people get these things from? Polls r Us?

A potato could do better than that. If you want even poll, ask 100 people. 50 women, 50 men. As in my math that I learned in school, that makes a hundred and an even vote. Go figure. I wondered what all the dropouts did when they couldn't find work. They make polls for 'women' channels. Why did they move from lifetime anyways? Too many men tuning in to watch?

Here we are trying to prepare for disasters and there they are trying to figure if women prefer necklaces or cell phones. I just take heart in knowing that when it comes about, most of these morons will be gone.

So you are a woman who wears diamond earrings, shoots a .45 and calls to brag on her cell phone to her husband? Well, good for you. Now make sure that he is busy doing inventory on the can goods. :D

Don't count on that one....If the board reflects life....(and that's a big IF) there are way more men than women parrotheads...and they dress way crazier than the women at concerts...

Maybe it's that one day "get away from it all" thing or something....But we've got way more guys than girls.....LOL...a new guy introduced himself the other day..and one of the guys said "GO AWAY! The guy quota here is way over the limit as it is....... and we need more women!"....:D

I think it's that boys will be boys thing..

They get to dress up like pirates..shoot cannons....drink all they possibly can....look at "scantily clad" women....

Could be anyway....?
