It is my Understanding that TSA is a NON-Police Powders Agency, and when Police Powers are required, they use local LAW Enforcement for such issues. I believe this is by Federal Statute. If this is FACT, just why does TSA need 3.5 million rounds of .357 Sig Ammunition, or ANY ammunition at ALL? I have sent off an eMail to each of my Federal Legislators, ASKING this exact Question. If, or when I get a response I will post it here, ......

TSA Wants to Purchase 3.5 Million Rounds of .357 Sig and Lease a NJ Shooting Range…

As if having DHS, DEA, ATF, FBI, and your state/local law enforcement officers armed to the teeth isn’t enough, now the TSA wants in on the action.
According to an FBO.gov Request, the TSA is seeking to lease time on a range “within 20 miles of New York LaGuardia Airport without crossing a bridge and/or incurring a toll.”
Well at least they are looking out for taxpayers to make sure government agents aren’t paying a toll…to the government…anyway, moving along.
According to the request, the estimated number of rounds fired at the range will be 490,200 per year. That number goes along nicely with the next number we’re going to look at.
The TSA is looking to secure 3.5 million rounds of .357 Sig training ammunition. Sorry, that’s an exaggeration, it’s actually 3.454 million rounds.
One could easily imagine the TSA establishing a west coast training deport in addition to the one in the Northeast. If that happened you could easily imagine 1 million rounds per year being fired.
In 2012, just 11 years after being established, the TSA had an estimated budget of $7.6 billion (with a b). The TSA is currently under control of the DHS, which raised its own eyebrows with ammo purchases over the last few months, with multi-year contracts including billions (still with a b) of rounds over a multi-year period.

I think two things when I see this in response to your question.... I think of many expletives beyond that but will refrain...
    1. This is just a method of DHS spreading their purchases across all subordinate agencies to limit the overall quantity hitting the radar and raising alarms more than they have. What does it take to transfer ammor from one unit within a division to another....nothing but a piece of paperwork... Fortunately there are a tremendous amount of personal and juristictional watchdogs blowing the whistle each time these purchase are made or are in the que.
    2. TSA's mandate and the Fed Statute you suggested limiting them in law enforcement action, has (hidden in some 1,000 page bill) or soon will be changed without any public conversation. We have recently seen how they intend to move into the security of train systems.... once they have the enforcement capability, manpower, equipment and ammo.... what is there to prevent them from restricing or preventing, of free movement, using the systems such as plane, train or automobile. Once the pieces are in place, and the event...whatever it is takes place....only the priviliged/allowed could use air or rail travel. Bridges and roadways could be secured and regional travel let alone interstate travel stiffled or stopped all together. To me they are just building, layer upon layer, with little notice of the building blocks being placed in this manner, which in the end will give them complete control of all movement, by using our tax dollars and the oblivious mass to build it.... One of these days, we will wake up and martial law will be imposed, and the .gov will be in place, trained and equiped to do the mission at hand... and we as citizens are not stopping this from happening.
No tin foil here- just an observation.

I think I remember reading the U.S. Air Marshal Service has issued handguns chambered in .357 Sig.

Glock 40's can be converted to 357 Sig very quickly. A barrel change and off you go.

Exactly. The longer they can get away with continuing to influence the ammunition market and maintaining a dry status, the better for them. The .GOV will still have tons of ammo, even if ammo becomes readily available in the future. And I do NOT want to hear anybody claiming it's normal again --I still haven't found any ammo in my region, and if any does hit the shelves, it's off into BillyBob's truck in the time it takes to fry an egg on an Arizona sidewalk.

This will take YEARS to fix. Price normalization may never fully return, just like gasoline tax --it's 95% smoke and mirrors. I'm kinda glad I reload and stocked up when I did...

These alphabet agencies will be used one-by-one, and I am betting the .GOV machine is not near done yet. BTPost raised a great point; the TSA doesn't have any delegated authority to be armed. Yet.

BTPost, you can feed 9mm through a .40S&W Glock magazine. After I learned of this, I only bought Glock 22 magazines from that point forward. .357 Sig will also feed through the .40S&W magazine. The Glock 22 magazines are pretty much universal for the small frame Glock, you can use them in the 26/27, 19/23, 17/22, and 34/35, etc.

I've used the G22 magazines with a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel in a Glock 22, and it worked as usual. I would suspect that the mini Glock should uphold the same standard.

I'm just saying, try the G27 magazine with 9mm loaded and see how it works. My bets are that you won't even notice the difference. If I'm wrong, please say so, so we all know what happened.

I have a .357 Follower in one Mag and a .40SW Follower in the other Mag, that came with the weapon.... I tried some 9mm ammo in both, and seem to be workable, for now.... Just like to have the correct followers for the weapon, Just because.... will let you kknow how it all works out once the Conversion Barrel gets here. Thanks for the tip....

I run 357 sig in my 23 and use both the 40 and 357.sig mags without a hickup.

Quigs & BT: you should not have an issue, they are essentially the same round - barring a difference in bullet size and powder charge. The 40 casing is necked down on the smaller 357 bullet. the follower in the 40 mags should be identical to the 357 mags.

The follower in each of the two Mags I got with the weapon, ARE marked with the caliber, that they were intended for. (40) and (357) I assume that the exact Mag for the 9mm will have 9mm Marked on it's Follower, as well.....

    G17mags-numbered.
Its up to 8 Variations now I think

    Gen 1-4 = pre-'94 ban
    Gen 5-6 = during '94 ban
    Gen 7-8 = post-'94 ban
One way of explaining it, that might be that the 17-pattern magazines fit and work in 17, 17L, 18, 19, 25, 26, 28 and 34.

    The 22-pattern magazines will fit and work in 22, 23, 24, 27, 31, 32, 33, and 35.

A little bit out of context but in Mathew 16 Jesus says "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' "And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?

You see, I believe many of us can discern the signs of the times. Problem is, most people just don’t want to look. Many who turn their head aside will be the first to perish.

Just "won" the auction for 357 dies at "Handloadersbench.com"---now to find a shooter--lol. Accumulating a bit of brass and can cast boolits for the little monster. Tip: some say to size the Sig in a 40 sizer die first to make loading less problematic.
