Wind Damage here...

    We are having a nice wind storm winds 45mph to 60 mph... trees down including a nice Black walnut:cry: Doors blown off chicken houses... roof damage... generally a mess... pictures will follow...

    We went through this last November. Trees down everywhere, power out for days, fences blown over, roofs off... I had about 40 trees down on my property. It was a mess! Took me months to get it all cleaned up. Wish you more luck than I had! Good luck, Doc!

    Stay safe WD....keep your head down....would hate some flying debris to rearrange your voodoo mask. I'd also suggest laying off rain dances for a while... ;)

    Sorry to hear about your bad weather @Witch Doctor 01. Hope you and the Mrs stay safe. Interesting about that tree, some think gun stock and immediately thought loss of food source.

    @Witch Doctor Some repairs and some wood cutting. I hope the timber burns well once it has dried. Looks like the Lord done supplied your pot belly stove some fuel once you have cut and split it.

    Yup, that straight section just above the roots looks like good stock material;)
    Sorry you had the damage, but if that is all that happened I'm glad it wasn't the house or y'all.

    Just above the root (Trunk area) is where the twisty wood is ALWAYS , it takes the bends . Bad for straight .
    Just sayin, Woodmizer & tree topper of 250 off the top @ 7' dia @ base trunk .
    Best is dependent of tree type .

    If your cutting up that tree for future use, be sure to paint the ends of each cut, to prevent the wood from drying too quickly and splitting.

    If I didn't have the space or inclination to store the slabs and do some carving myself, I'd touch base with a gunstocker and see what he'll do to you or for you in exchange for the wood. At least he might give you some superior advice on the actual sawing out of blanks. I should have done that before I cut up the solid cherry log, but what I have is curing out adequately after 4 years. Has a hell of a twist in two of the five slabs, but is evidently stable. Next winter, maybe, will start carving. Uv cuss, there will be pix. NB, I have no power tools that will handle those lumps, it'll be hand work all the way if I live long enough.
