I'm just now able to log in here and was wondering how the local members have fared? Did you have the preps you needed? Learn anything new to share? Just wondering!
It has been a nightmare here, I have spent the last week transporting water, Ice and food to people back in these hollors. It amazes me how alot of the older people tried to refuse the water and ice and food. They tried to tell us to take it to others who needed it and then if any was left they would like to have some. I know a lot of the older people and widows in the area because when on patrol I always check on them and have keys to most of their gates plus I give them my personal cell just incase they need me. Not being mean but most of the younger ones in the area are crack heads and I don't worry about them unless I have a warrant or looking to check a burglary complaint or unless there are babies involved. Just how the older ones care about others and if it had been younger ones who didn't need it they would have taken it just because it was free. I did learn with a little age and a few more pounds the heat kicks this ol boy's butt, I was happy the way things went with our prepps, we did OK had water, food, and a few comforts with the generator. Lost alot of meats due to the gen at the shop being serviced. It was my fault waited til tommorow to do what could have been done today. One thing I do think Im going to invest in is a couple of small solar chargers or crank chargers like for the cell phones, my mining LED light which on high lasts 20hrs and low 60hrs and possblly test one of the solar fans. Just to free up a little gen space.
We did alright ,4 days no power but I hooked up the inverters and kept the food cold .Preps went real good even had a cook out the grandkids and some of the neighbors .Around here we look out for each other as it should be !! Hope all went as well for you !!
power down for out for 5 days and phone still not up, but got by fine. things to think about; no power no ac and/or heat if central furnace if not on city water no power no water no water no commode if older especially with heart or breathing problems heat or cold are not your friends no power, no oxygen condensers working lots of older folks with heart and breathing problems ended up at the ER's just some things to keep in mind
Glad to hear everyones doing ok. I guess we are doing fine too. I finally have to admit I'm not a spring chicken anymore and the heat was too much for me. Had to rig up an AC to the generator to keep part of the house cooler. We are still without power and phones. Don't miss the phone at all but need the electric for AC and freezers etc. I love it when the powers out in the Winter time... we use the wood cookstove to heat the house and I cook on it all winter anyway. I can take all the cold but this heat is killing me! Well thats enough complaining, lol. When my electric comes on I'm taking the biggest, hottest, 2 hour long bath ever!!! And I'm going to enjoy throwing all those dirty clothes in that convenient washing machine too!
Hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When are all of us WV people going to get together and where so we can all meet and greet !!! I know I'd like to but just don't know how to get started !! Any suggestions !!!
Cephas, I don't know... I'm so backwards about meeting new people I probably wouldn't show up, lol. Guess what I found out today? Copper thieves raided our area and the damage is so bad we can expect to have at least 10 more days without power.... yuck.....
It's a good idea we could all meet at a mid point around a state Park or something grill a few burgers with the families and shoot the breeze. I would really like to see us meet up that way we will have kind of West Virginia Monkey connection. Then when SHTF we will atleast know each other and can have some type of communication link to spread info.
So lets get some PM's going see when and where and get some ideas floating around !! I know there should be more lurking out there that may want to at least sign up for the Pm's !! Lets see if we can pull this off .Anyway I know I'm going to A-Dog before Fall rolls around !!
LOL... why don't we just meet at a park with a shooting range then everybody can bring their toys and we can all "play".
I am certainly interested in a get together and shoot the breeze. I am not as interested in bringing my toys, but others could if they wanted. by the way what are "PM'S"???
In this context, PMs are private messages. The old software had them by that name, this new software calls them "conversations."
I kinda suggested that we bring toys "tongue in cheek"... because thats what everybody thinks we preppers do all the time.... shoot our guns and hoard ammo...lol. I'd really rather not have my kids running around where people are shooting...!
Kathy, pick a place, select a date, and go for it. Everyone will not be able to come but some will. People kept talking about us having one around here so we rented the 4-H camp for the weekend and for the last 12-13 years have had gatherings in April and Oct. Kind of like a big family reunion now. We are having a local meet/eat this Sat at a bud's house. Next month we will meet at a restaurant.
-06... I haven't been a member here long enough to do that so I better leave it to Alpha Dog or Cephus or someone else to set things up.
