We had a neighbor in Oregon that had been there in Pearl during the attack, he was stationed just 100 yards from the Arizona when she blew up, he spent most of the day helping rescue wounded survivors before he himself needed medical due to smoke and second degree burns. He shared his experience with us after learning my Father was a Navy Captain, it was amazing to hear his account first hand, and I'm glad we got to record it all on video! He passed last fall at 102 years old. I remember hearing stories from WW-1 soldiers, sadly, little of it was recorded, and they are all long since gone, and now the last of the WW-II service men and women are almost all gone!
