i got tired of brave wanting to update every other week. im using linux mint and installed brave with flatpak,,,,,1.2gb! half the size of my os. for a long time now my speed drops below 25 and streaming vids and large downloads just dont work. for shits and giggles i tried firefox and librawolf.
    speedtest brave 21mb download
    librawolf 286mb down
    firefox 302 mb down.

wtf? iv been thinking it is starlink and if i reeboot starlink then reboot comp my speed is restored on brave about half the time i try it. punishment for not updating brave? time to make the switch to librawolf is my take away.
why are flatpak installs so huge?
what browseres are fellow monkeys using linux happy with?

Linux Mint with Cinnamon desktop is probably the easiest to work with.
Ubuntu is pretty good. There are a few different desktops one could choose from (compare at Ubuntu flavors | Ubuntu)
    Kubuntu is my personal preference.

It's like your favorite handgun cartridge .. not everyone is going to agree which is best.

Whoa that sucks. That almost sounds like all the packets are going through a scanner or you have a bunch of browser extensions running. Does brave come default installed with something like a firewall, anti-malware, anti-popup? If so might want to turn those off, restart your machine, clear the internet cache and see if that improves. Additionally if you are going through a VPN or proxy that could also be throttling you. It really sounds like an add-on. Just guessing as I don't use brave.

i use a proton mail acount and sometimes have to disable brave sheilds to get it to login. im not aware of firewall, anti-malware, anti-popups. no extensions,,, that i instaled. and yes if i reboot speed goes to normal. iv been blaming starlink,, but this kinda proves they are not the problem. im not smart enough to figure wtf it is,,,,, but i do know how to delete brave and use librawolf! im curious if others had this happen. faster speeds on diferant browsers. i have been refusing to update brave because its every 3 weeks or so and 1.2gb per update. maybe thats it? dont care at this point il just switch to librawolf.

I think most of the Linux distros I've used come with FireFox by default.
