I live right downtown in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I do not own a vehicle. The forests are mostly owned by NCC (National Capital Commision), and while there is ample woods and lakes that is accessible within the city, I am forbidden to do anything on the land including pitch a tent or any temporary structure (even for one hour), light a fire or collect firewood and there are even prohibitions on putting up hammocks (my kids are bummed out about that one).
