I had cousins who fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. Other family have fought in most since,some as I type this. We are now entering in the Ukraine and in research units a whole new world of war. A local unit commander can see an aerial view in real time from a satellite that will show individual soldiers. Spacex can put tons of satellites in orbit in a day or two instead of next year. Their phone system has world wide range and is smaller than a WW2 walkytalky with a range of a couple miles. There are mortars that with a laser targeting it will hit on the first shot within inches at ranges of a few miles. There are drones that will fly thru a window and explode and use AI to track you and kill you even if the controller can not see you. The Ukrainian navy has used drones to defeat the Russian navy and other Ukrainian drones to attack refineries and manufacturing facilities that are hundreds of miles away. The Russians have quickly learned and are doing to the Ukraine the same. We now have drone helicopters that can be flown by a soldier with 1 hours training and located 40 miles away that required two pilots with 18 months training and hundreds of hours of very expensive flying time to be proficient. Guardsman learns to fly autonomous Black Hawk in less than an hour Now 75 to 80 % of all casualties are caused by drones and there is no longer a front line just a kill zone dominated by drones. The electronic revolution now gives a 6 year old child toys that are better than any nation fielded in WW2.
Years ago, I remember writing on another Prepper website that it would be sooo cool to have the latest tech to use in the event of SHTF. Things like night vision, thermal scopes, and drones. The guys shot me down because those things were too new, too expensive, and too fragile. Today they are not as new, nor as eye wateringly expensive, and fragile. I guess I was just a visionary. Ahead of my time. However, NEVER forget about the low-tech stuff!
There are a few here that are the same way. They want nothing to do with any type of battlefield tech that operates on batteries, let alone any advanced tech as drones, passive or thermal night vision. Sadly, it is to the point that if you DON'T have some of the high-tech stuff you probably are not going to make it...that goes for any type of conflict be it all out war between nations or a civil crisis. A DJ friend of mine bought a drone for filming his events, sadly new laws have been put in place that prohibit it's use now. It seems that as soon as something like this is found, deviant minds abuse it and make it bad for every one else. It seems that any form of flight is going to be questionable for a long time, even after this war is over. If ever.
The technology exists right now to jam all drone frequencies apart from satellite controlled drones. Why it hasn't been talked about or implemented, is anybody's guess. I would say this is a testing period. A lot of performances happening, if you know what I mean. A lot of money could potentially be invested in this tech. Follow the money, you will get more answers.
