Actually, I couldn't possibly disagree more with everything you said. First, you don't know if mankind would have been better off if the population were kept around half a billion. Perhaps some would appreciate the idea that we never gained anything useful from outer space, where the international space station sits vacant and without purpose and all "research" has been done -there just isn't anything left to do. If the multi-billion dollar waste of resources and funding is your idea of progress...then I suppose I am arguing to deaf ears. I don't believe mankind will be "sad and doomed" as you put it. A smaller population is a strong population. If it is not divided, then it does not expend energy and time fighting other humans. There is much progress that can be made in a future with few distractions.

But, this is a dividing line even among the elites. Some believe that humans must be nurtured and allowed to exist in harmony to cultivate their true greatness, but always kept at population levels which are reasonable. Others believe that mankind can only truly progress through perpetual war; where the victor always comes out of the last war stronger, better than before. These ideologies follow chaos/order theory, and the reason for our apparent "evolution" as you may call it.

Mankind has always 'progressed' fastest in time of strife and war......
Not necessarily 'best', but strife spurs invention and experimentation.
Take away the strife of life and competition for living - and you have a ZOO.

  3. Has anyone thought to themselves yet, "Why was this aired now??". By now I mean the fall. I missed this the first time around and caught it Sunday. Any of you think they put it on for a reason like wanting to get the info out but not wanting a mass panic.

Good way to get people to open their eyes

Passed this on to my brother. He is furthering his prepping. We are currently the only ones prepping in the family. Not letting anyone else know (OPSEC), don't feeling like being ridiculed nor wanting someone knocking on our door when SHTF.

Thanks to the links. I had seen part of it earlier this year, but not the full video.

  5. Grunt, You get used to the ridiculing after a while. LOL!

I'm with grunt. I keep my OPSEC tight. Not just for the ridicule reduction, but for the amount of people I won't have to chase off with a firearm because they ran out of food and know I have plenty. Heck, even my KIDS call the prep shelves the pantry, because that is what the adults call it.

I try to keep a lid on things as well. With family sometimes that's easier said than done. Recently when one of my sisters was visiting from out of town, she got a look inside my pantry. The first words out of her mouth "why do you need that much food?" I asked her if she had car insurance, life insurance, etc. When she said yes, I said this is my "food insurance". We've had storms that knocked utilities out for months here, winter storms, though rare, can cripple a southern city like Memphis. I don't want to have to go to the store and fight for staple items (bread, milk, eggs, etc).
Her next question was "where do I get those can racks, i like them!"
