An ice shack with interesting possibilities

I saw this and it piqued my imagination as to the possibilities for caching / emergency BOL accommodation, etc.

 

Nice in a high tech tiny house way. Spent a few hours as a kid ice fishing and our high tech was building a snow wall to stop the wind. Didn't use to call them fish houses etc, dad and grand dad always called them dark houses and the main purpose was not to have a warm place to drink beer while you fished, but to better see the fish you were trying to spear. Don't know if that is even still legal.

Nor I, though I suspect that it probably isn't going to be cheap. I like the concept, and can see that the basic idea could be adapted to more traditional building techniques and materials. Corrugated iron and wood or aluminium framing perhaps.

 

I Since you can tow it with your snowmobile or ATV, it must be lighter then a wood shack would be. The more I think about it, it does seem to offer more options then a camper shell, an ice shack etc. This can be used for various purposes.

 

Cool product (ok, I couldn't help myself) at $2400 a copy, not exactly cheap.

Yes, lighter so even putting it on the back of the pickup (like a camper) one would use less gas. One would never have to worry about rot or rust... It can't be cheap being one-piece molded polyethylene.. I would have thought it would have been insulate more than R10... Interesting!

 

and for the poor souls who don't have the chance to fish on hard water....

If it were me, and lot's of money to play with, I'd simply rigg a pontoon boat with a swamp boat fan, and move it on the ice that way.
Reinforce the toons with stainless steering runners for the ice, and even if it get's thin enough to break the ice, I am uninturrupted.
The pontoon boat can be completely enclosed like a fancy tent , generator, porta poty, kitchen, bed, propane heater and all.
Build a drop counter sunk floor between the toons for fishing giving your self lots of room to play. lift the counter sunk floor for moving .
In stead of pushing from behind, the fan would function pulling from in front blowing from below under the deck partially lifting the unit. Steer with plane type tail from behind . Steering taken from the out board controls.
