Howdy y'all. I have been having trouble with my Googlefu, and cannot seem to find a How To on making a knife or machete sheath out of canvas. Anybody have anything, or some advice?

Any maybe consider using rivets. Less chance of hurting yourself. But I don't know too much about sheath making.

Cotton canvas isn't the best material for sheaths, but it can be done. I would make a hybrid leather/canvas sheath, using leather for the back side, belt loop, and welt. You can lay your sized and shaped canvas out and apply thin coats of epoxy (after dyeing the canvas)) to make it sturdy and resilient. I would rivet it all together after stitching the seams, too. In my opinion, I would definitely not use untreated canvas since it holds moisture and will certainly rust your blade.
