My niece's first handgun.

My niece is 19 and starting Pre-Med next year. She always went to range with me and her father, but in the last 5 years or so has needed no prompting to target shoot with us.

She will shoot just about anything she can get her hands on from 10-22, ARs, AKs, and all of our pistols (even my Desert Eagle .44mag). I bought her an Keltec sub 2000 in 9mm and later an M1 carbine a couple of years ago with the no argument from her mother.

Lately she and I have been discussing her first handgun and decieded it was time. Instead of giving her one of mine (she will have to wait until I'm dead before I'll part with my babies) I told her to come down to the gunshop I work at and pick out what fit her hand and felt comfortable. I also told her not to look at the prices as she would limit herself to what was cheap.

Of course she picked out the most expensive pistol in the place, brand new Kimber Custom Carry II (about $1500). She shoots my .45s without a problem and is actually very accurate with them. I guess if she doesn't like the recoil on such a light frame, I can always keep it and get her something else.

I'll be picking it up on Friday or Saturday and taking her to the range to try it out. I will have to start insisting she buy her own ammo from now on though.

If you need another niece let me know and I could play the part for a pistol like that.
