Not an ocean but it has claimed it's share of Mariners.

And a fine song by Gordon Lightfoot still remember the first time I heard it.

    ..........
SS Edmund Fitzgerald was an American Great Lakes freighter that sank in a Lake Superior storm on Monday, November 10, 1975, with the loss of the entire crew of 29. When launched on June 7, 1958, she was the largest ship on North America's Great Lakes, and she remains the largest to have sunk there.

Had the opportunity to hear Lightfoot sing his song in person a couple of years back. He has aged, but it sounded the same as always.

Growing up in Northern Michigan, I naturally took notice of the tragedy.. Took many trips up to the UP fishing and it hit home that it happened on the Marine Corps birthday as I was in my first year in the Corps..
