Cool, just dont be shy about posting. I dont want to exclude members that want to come but since it will be at my home the exact location (adress will be PMed or otherwise privately sent to those who want to come and I kind of want to have a chance to get to know the folks at least some here on the board before I pass out my adress to them especialy since there have been a few problems here with trolls. Like I say this is not against you at all and I figure you will be welcome, I just will be more comfortable (for any newer members or anyone who hasnt posted a lot) if they have posted a fair bit before then so that I have a chance to kind of get to know them here.
Oh was jokeing around with Tina that with all the coons and opposums we shoot around the chicken house and such we could even have a feed from them one nite. lol (need a big old toothless grin smiley on here)

Well I plan to try and have a pig or 2 for eating and figure will most likely butcher it while folks are here so those interested can watch or jump in and learn how to do it and am sure there will be more stuff like the fire building and so on go on but I think most of that will just kind of be played by ear. Kind of get together and chat in person and if something comes up that someone has skills in and others want to see how to do it Im sure there will be demonstrations of the stuff done, just figure leave it kind of informal so folks dont feel over scheduled and such if they just want to hang out and chat and relax or whatever.

Ok just wanted to kind of update here. One of the things I happened to think of is that while I will probably provide the meat and dont have a problem cooking it up and doing some sides, Perry Foster (aka The Refridgerator Perry that klayed for the KC chiefs) has a BBQ joint about 15 miles up the road and catters, if those who figure to come would like and dont mind chipping in for whatever he would charge I could contact him and find out what it would cost to have him cater one of the days or the whole thing or whatever. Let me know what you all think and we can go from there on it. If we did decide to go that route I probably would not be collecting any money for it untill along about May.
As far as flat ground for tents, well it is Missouri so anything super level may be a question but should have plenty of area close enouph that you dont roll away and the cows in the freezer so should be clear. Back stop is there provided by the lay of the land and hopefuly the neighbor has his cattle off the pasture on the next hill by then as he usualy dose in the summer so shouldnt be a problem, if they are there we just have to make sure the sites arent set high so nothing goes over the fence or are liable to have to pass the hat to BBQ a cow lol but its usualy just hay in the summer and as long as are even close to the paper then it isnt a problem anyhow since the fence is half way up the hill.
So if you all figure haveing the thing catered would be something you are interested in let me know and we can find out what it would run, if not thats fine too and can just hang them over the fire or in the grill.

Well looks like chicken may be added to the menue. We just got an order in on a truckload sale on leg quarters for $0.10/pound so will probably be getting $10 worth, so should still be a bunch around. lol

Ok, so mostly just wanted to bump the thread up on the unread posts to keep it in folks minds. :D [gone]

    Getting closer

Well the time is getting closer for the gathering. So wanted to be sure who all plans to make it. I also wanted to be sure if anyone comeing has any issues as far as a hard time getting around or whatever or if anyone planned to bring a camper or whatever. If so let me know and we can set aside a spot to accomidate a few campers or sites that would be easer on folks that have a hard time getting around and such. [winkthumb]

If all goes as planned, I'll be equipped to motel it or sack out in the pickup, whatever works all around. I have to stay on the maybe list, tho', there are still some issues on site that might come to a head. :dunno: [boozingbuddies]

Ok, hopefuly you can make it. If you want to sack out in the truck that wont be a problem to find a spot for and if you decide to go with the hotel there are a couple 15 miles to the south and a few more 15 miles or so to the north. I dont have unlimeted numbers of them but if someone wants to tent it and dosent have or cant bring the gear we do have a 2 or 3 tents and 3 or 4 cots.

Also figure if enouph of the folks that make it are interested we may pass the hat to come up with $50-$75 and go get a pig or 2 for a butchering lesson. If not then thats no problem either since aside from anything else we just butchered 2 more pigs yesterday and put them in the freezer so that in addition to the fact that both freezers were already nearly full of meats means that something to BBQ will not be a problem in the least. Already have a couple 30# hams and IIRC about a 20#+ leg of lamb ear marked for the get together. Should be a good time for any who can make it. [beer]
