I take my NV pics by holding things together, takin a bunch and then seeing which was in focus. My camera doesn't seem to be able to focus through the mono.

If I had an adapter for PVS-14, and screwed the 2 together, would that help? or would I still need to manual focus?

    What do you use?

Actually, I do the same thing you do. I have a Sony Cybershot 5 megapixel. I have to throw half away, but after awhile, you figure it out and it isn't that bad. I actually take a lot of my pictures through ANVIS and can't use an adapter, so learned the hard way.
