A question is it a myth that you cannot raise a wild rabbit?
The reason behind this question is that my neighbors girl caught a small wild rabbit like 6''or 7'' long and now has it inside her room raising it,Going on about 6 days now,She say's its eating carrots and drinking water.

  3. Though I did raise rabbits in my first marriage, I did not raise wild ones. So I cant honestly say. Though I am of the opinion, That if they are eating? Then raising them should be possible. 500 years ago, Rabbits where raised in a colony system. and where at the time wild caught. So It should be possible. I just don't know how well they can be done with todays techniques. Though I would also think, they would have a better immune system against sickness.

Wild cottontails can be raised in captivity. Can't be domesticated, at least we never succeeded. Can't breed with domestic bunnies.

Cottontail babies unable to fend for themselves are notoriously difficult to keep alive. Largely due to Lagomorph's being coprophagic.

We mistakenly disturbed an under ground nest of rabbits and raised them for a few weeks . out of 6 3 lived and set them loose in the yard . years later one remembered me and was not afraid of me at all.
you never know with wild animals, no rules carved in stone. .
I have had several friends that took in wild animals and had good results . Female of the species tend to be more accommodating than males.
I would like to raise wild squirrels seeing they are good eating. but they won't mate in captivity. If I catch another pair I may give it another try.
