I recently got one for 385.00. It's an accurate gun. It came with a shooting star mag. It is a little finicky when not using WWB or American eagle. Has any body got the Springer mags? I heard that they are it's favorite. Would like to know before I use the coupon to get 10.

I believe I shot one once before, they are nice, but then again it is a 1911. [winkthumb]

I have a Springfield Champ, and I love it. It doesn't like Wolf ammo, but will run any brass cased ammo all day long. Mine was a GI I think, but the barrel and bushing, and sights have been upgraded:D If you got it that cheap I assume it wasn't new. But might not have been run the 500 round break in time either.

Thanks for the replies. I almost burned the dremel up this weekend. I lowered the ejection port, beveled the mag compartment and Put the slide and frame on 1500 -5000 grit sandpaper over a piece of granite to slick it up. It works , well like a champ now. Two must do's for a Champ: 1 port and polish the barrel and feed ramps and a trigger job. They are exact replicas of a gun that GI's had to modify to survive. It will feed a basket ball now.

Update: Just got my Champ back from the Smith and it now has a new Wilson Match trigger at 4 1/2 lbs. Sweet. I'm thinking about him taking the frame apart so I can HVLP the frame OD green, [new resin] while upgrading parts, and reparkerizing or resin the slide matte black.

Total update. I was in my little gun shop down the street to pick up some Lake city .223 ss109 for 35.00 per 100 and looked in there glass case and darn near died. There set a SA S/S Loaded Champ, used with no marks at all on it [including Mag] for 709.00. Went and got my GI Champ and rushed it back to put down on it. Here's the numbers: 709-300=409 for a Beautiful piece. Been looking for one for a year. Now it is mine. It's got everything and night sites. O joy, happy, happy! You think I can convince my lady I had the other one Chromed? I was looking at a Kimber Pro carry there but some one bought and had to send it back to Kimber for FTF's. I will keep this one forever.[touchdown]

Took it to the range today-WOW! 100 rounds of WWB and not one problem. Best groups I've ever got. Got one that I'll keep forever. Got home and cleaned it, And installed a Wilson mag well on it. Fantastic gun. Now to try some reloads.
