Well, the seeds are being sown.

Mystery threats from Iran....sent a carrier group to the Gulf.
Non essential embassy employees/family in Bagdad told to evacuate.
Saudi says Iran backed Yemen rebels hit their oil facilities with drones.
Somebody attacked some Saudi oil ships this week in the Gulf of Tonkin....opps....I mean the other gulf. Blame Iran. (Pay no attention to the long standing feud between polar opposites of the Muslim faith)
US leans on other countries not to buy Iranian oil or suffer US trade sanctions.

Sounds a whole lot like pre WW2 when we cut off Japanese oil supplies, trying to force them to retaliate. Result....thousands of US service men sacrificed at Pearl, got rid of a bunch of WW1 scrap iron, and Roosevelt got the war he wanted.....no, NEEDED....because the depression had lingered on too long, and a war economy would cure it. Even though we were allies with some of the European nations, the case for going to war there wasn't really flying well here. We needed a good, solid, December 7th moment to motivate the country. War declared on Japan and Germany December 11th, 1941.

The dots are there, the connection isn't that hard. Even a fogged over crystal ball will tell you what direction we're headed. Same lies and bullshit being spread today....pushing and pushing Iran.....and they will probably fall for the same game plan....finally closing the Straights (and 20% of the world's oil supply). The resulting doubling, or more, of oil will sure help the shale drillers here at home that have been operating under the Polish economic system.....loose money with every barrel, make it up on volume.

Of course, we'll bomb Iran (John McCain will be heard giggling in his grave)

The Iranians will cut loose (if not before) with some of those super duper Sunburn missiles, taking a chunk out of the carrier group....maybe a carrier itself...our "Pearl Harbor" moment....v2.0. The US will respond all out, with the Saudi's and Israeli's leading the cheering section.

So get ready for 5, or 8, or 10 buck gasoline. We will be told to suck it up...the economy is in the toilet due to Iran, not the fact we're been printing phony money for decades. Trump will get re-elected 2020, because no 'war time' president gets thrown out. Yep, a good little war has always cured a lot of ills, so that play book is being activated as we speak.

Unless somebody comes to their senses.....and given we're a nation OF the corporations, BY the corporations, and FOR the corporations.....and all the political puppets in Washington march to their corporate drum.....I'd say we'll be in a shooting war with Iran before the year is out.

    Make your preps accordingly.

you're simplifying the pre-WW2 embargo against Japan a liitle toooo much - the US stopped the scrap metal shipments and not much of anything else - and the other various embargos were from other Euro countries with asian colonies like France, England and the Dutch ...

Japan got itself economically & diplomatic isolated by its China campaign - wholesale murder of 100,000s at a time - IE Rape of Nanking - and it's military expansion into other Pacific Rim areas ....

Roosevelt didn't want a war with Japan - wanted to assist England with Hitler - little of any of the new military supplies were going to the Pacific and assets like capitol navy ships were being withdrawn to the Atlantic ...

Hillery and Obummer will load up and send 6.7 Billion $ of Uncle Sam's Reserve from the collection they took from Iran and a Rusty Old TROJAN Diesel Submarine loaded with some Spec Operators and buy off the Irannies.
SpecOps will emerge from the Sub and send the Muzzie's heads of state to their rewards of bliss.
The Muzzies will discover the Virgins they expected are only Drag Queens and will cut their own throats.
    Problem solved.

Nailed it! A war in the gulf is inevitable, has been for some time. Israel finally gets to close the Iranian noose, retake Gaza and Palestine, and the whole middle east turns into a wallmart parking lot! Saudi and U.A.E. all becomes U.S.Property, no trespassing! The Great canal becomes Israel's, Egypt gets absorbed into the new green deal, and most of north africa becomes one big Egyptian colony.
Bigger picture here, the U.S. amd Israel crushes Iran, Israel becomes the biggest dog at the middle east trough, Oil shipments to Russia and China are now Israeli controlled, and taxes and tariffs in shipments are divided amoung the players! China and Russia are forced to accept this new world order, or fight, amd right now is the time to do them both in, as nether is strong enough to stand on its own against the U.S! Theoretically, the U.S. could right now, take on all three countries, and still have a little left over for Rocket Man and his inbred generals!
Yup, nothin like a good war to invigorate an economy, unite the sheeple, and secure 4 more years, not to mention pretty much crush the political opponent's and send forth the real hope and change Obummer and Co. Promised us!

I have been reading articles and watching this for weeks now and I keep asking myself, what did I miss? I keep thinking this all sounds like allegations without true proof. It is either a Wag the Dog or we are going to war over accusation and finger pointing. When they put out the news that all non-essential was to evacuate I knew this was getting serious. I am not sure this is just economy. Seems like crap to me. Russia could turn off Europe's oil at anytime. Both the US & China have too much to loose in a trade war. Don Jr got a subpoena. I hope this is not all about someone getting re-elected.

Today I was reading the Daily Mail, which is a rag like the Enquirer but in each story is a bit of truth, this was the headline:
EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Air Force has deployed 20 missiles that could zap the military electronics of North Korea or Iran with super powerful microwaves, rendering their military capabilities virtually useless with NO COLLATERAL DAMAGE
Air Force has deployed 20 missiles that could fry the military electronics of North Korea or Iran | Daily Mail Online
This is one month after President Trump has signed an executive order calling for a government generate a plan to detect EMP.
Plus last week, Rueters & Israel had articles regarding Iran is/was planning on using an EMP on our ships.
Iran's plan for attacking US will fail

Reads like we are going to throw missiles at each other and test EMP capabilities.

I could see Iran sending a (courtesy of NORK) nuke about 200 miles above Kansas via a container ship or two and things wouldn't much matter in the rest of the world.

IF and that's a very big IF - hostilities break out in SWA, it's time to lock down the US/Mexico border. If Iran would strike at the US - it will be via the porous southern border.

If the cartels can smuggle in tons of smack, meth and dope, a few dirty bombs shouldn't be too hard to roll with.....

Right now the media is the one playing this all up...shades of Yellow Journalism and William Randolph Hearst Sr....

    Fun facts about Iran...

Iran is about the size of the State of Alaska ( 636,374 square miles (1,629,807 square kilometres)
    Population - around 81 million
74% of the population lives in dense urban areas (cities) - largest city (Tehran MSA) - 12 million. the next two largest cities account form another 5 million folks in residence.. There 6 cities with a population of over 1M.

    Just over 25% of the population between 15 - 24 Y/O.

About that whole Iran/Iraq squabble... (Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988))

"In the fall of 1988, the Iraqis displayed in Baghdad captured Iranian weapons amounting to more than three-quarters of the Iranian armor inventory and almost half of its artillery pieces and armored personnel carriers.

The Iran-Iraq war lasted nearly eight years, from September of 1980 until August of 1988. It ended when Iran accepted United Nations (UN) Security Council Resolution 598, leading to a 20 August 1988 cease-fire.

Casualty figures are highly uncertain, though estimates suggest more than one and a half million war and war-related casualties -- perhaps as many as a million people died, many more were wounded, and millions were made refugees. Iran acknowledged that nearly 300,000 people died in the war; estimates of the Iraqi dead range from 160,000 to 240,000. Iraq suffered an estimated 375,000 casualties, the equivalent of 5.6 million for a population the size of the United States. Another 60,000 were taken prisoner by the Iranians. Iran's losses may have included more than 1 million people killed or maimed."

We always fight the last war over in our planning, now have bacteria, human and animal, plant diseases, nukes, chemical, etc, and if we can't stop tons of drugs, how do we stop ounces of anthrax, hoof and mouth, pig or chicken flu, various plant diseases, etc that could destroy our economy? I don't like the war hawks, no matter which country they come from, always want some one else to die and consider only the good out comes. WW2 worked out so well for Japan, Germany, England, etc, and the aftermath destroyed central Europe and the "color revolutions" have destroyed much of north Africa and destabilized central Europe. Iran is a pi**ing contest that could easily spiral out of control, now have situation where 1 man, with or without orders, can launch missiles, attack aircraft carriers, spread anthrax, hoof and mouth, chicken or pig flue, and start WW3. Not a good time to listen to the hawks who wish to disarm us and put the omnipotent UN in charge of the perfect world or what ever dream, socialism, etc, they might have.

Errrr...is Jake that bear you call a dog?

@duane "...now have bacteria, human and animal, plant diseases, nukes, chemical..."
Yes, I had that thought myself. It would be relatively easy for them to bring some over the border and infect some of the major cities. The question would be how we would react? I truly doubt we would ever use nuclear weapons in any case except unless they were use on us or were going to be use (the preemptive strike is a fine line that is truly the scariest scenario).

Personally, I have not seen/heard of anything that would justify a war by us on Iran. Whether Saudi oil did or did not get attacked by Iranian drones is no skin off our nose. Frankly, I couldn't care less about Saudi's troubles.

One fact to remember is that China gets a majority of their fuel from Iran. Trump and the Chinese currently are not seeing eye to eye on things. I do question if this is why things are escalating.

Current Iranian Air Force inventory - as mostly guessed by Western sources
List of aircraft of the Iranian Air Force - Wikipedia

Their 'newest' fighter aircraft were delivered in...1991. Maintenance activity is UNK - they rarely get western spares for any of the fleet... (This Is How Iran Maintains Its Bizarre Air Force)

Their home-made knock-off of the US F-5 (T-38) is the Kowsar -- were featured in a military parade in 2018. The (real or true) total number of these is unknown. Likely in single digits.

Their armor is mostly COMBLOC types. (Equipment of the Iranian Army - Wikipedia)

On paper they have a lot of armored vehicles, how many will run or are crewed with trained personnel is an open question.

Considering they routinely got their asses kicked by the Iraqs - and we rolled up the Iraq army in 100 hours, the first time around - makes me believe a US led strike would be successful. It's the after that's likely to be a real problem....

How this all will turn out - if there is anything to turn out - will have to be left to the future. I doubt most American would have backed the Gulf War II had they know it would turn into a 20 year slog....

IMO let Iran sell it's oil until they run dry and become as insignificant as they were before oil became valuable. I'd even be good with subsidizing it to increase the volume.

Iran is where they are due to US meddling.
