Just saw this on another forum..... A motorcycle mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a BMW M3 when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop. The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his car when the mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc, want to take a look at this?" The cardiologist, a bit surprised walked over to where the mechanic was working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I opened its heart, took the valves out, repaired or replaced anything damaged, and then put everything back in, and when I finished, it worked just like new. So how is that I make $24,000 a year and you make $1.7M when you and I are doing basically the same work?" The cardiologist paused, leaned over, and then whispered to the mechanic..... "Try doing it with the engine running."
This is the reason why cardio vascular surgeons earn more This is the reason why cardio vascular surgeons earn more than motor mechanics. beating heart surgery - YouTube (Judging by the accent of the Youtube surgeon, I'd say he is an Australian.) That is not to say that motor mechanics are not talented in their own field. In some senses, Motor mechanics will be more valuable than heart surgeons in a PAW environment, simply because the medical infrastucture necessary for heroic heart surgery will not exist...the mechanic's usefulness will actually appreciate, and their needs for specialised tools and equipment are not as onerous. It's a nice and amusing joke Jung, and the comeback by the surgeon character put a smile on my face.
Funny, but not all that accurate. Most of the time they put you on bypass, and stop the heart. I had triple bypass this past summer.....let me tell you all about the "light"......ahahahahahaaaa
TnAndy is right, but it is a nicely crafted joke. Agreed TnAndy...some cardio vascular procedures require that the heart be stopped while being worked upon...and then "kick started" when the slicing and dicing and stitching up is done. Blood is circulated through the body via artificial heart/lung machine while the procedure is being done.
