Memes are a thing of the times. My children were floored when I said the word meme and could define what it meant (a picture with words/saying). There seems to be a meme for anything you want to say and can make your own if you want. Memes are funny, political or insulting but according to my kids if a picture with words says something kind or makes you think, then it is a motivational poster. When you hear the words motivational poster, most think ugh! and picture a poster hung up in an office somewhere with a cheesy saying ..... but some of those posters have made me stop and think. We talk about continuing to practice skills, well what about your brain? One must use it, stay sharp and keep thinking. There are a few motivational posters that I have kept. I was hoping we could discuss them. Let’s have some fun this month and discuss my favorite motivational posters. I will do one/two a week.

Here is MP one (the snowball) for thought and discussion:

What can I do today that you were not capable of 12 months ago?

I can fire an adult slingshot. @Bishop played Santa this year and gifted our family. We have had slingshots in our house, the ones that fire Nerf darts or are made for children but firing an adult one is different. It is not easy. Stance, arm strength and projecting where you want your shot to go is harder then it looks. I can hit is big object but I am far from taking down anything. Like with our bow, my biggest weakness is my arm strength. I have a band that I use to help build up my strength. The slingshot is now a new weapon that I am incorporating into my bag.

What can you do now that you were not capable of 12 months ago? It does not just have to be a skill. It could be something that you incorporated into your life or learned that made things better.

Besides being able to add another half an hour to my daily sleep time, I have been learning the fine art of hand drill fire making. It's coming along nicely and I am practicing finding my materials in nature and experimenting with different types of materials. I have met with more failures than success but those eureka moments of blowing a coal into a flame from using just a stick and board are priceless.

I got my ham radio license just over a year ago and I joined CERT about six months ago. I haven't made large leaps this year yet, but things are coming.

Passed seven decades mostly upright and still up for the occasional "hold my beer" episode! What!? At seven decades and me being me THAT is an accomplishment.

It looks like I have become the armorer for a couple of friends' wives. Both have S&W SD9VE pistols. I learned how to disassemble them, and replace the trigger and springs with much better aftermarket products.

You inspired me. I called up the local CERT rep and said sign me up. He will be sending me a list of things to do while I am waiting for the next series of classes.

I am going to set this meme right here:

change one thing about the world.

I think on this question often. I do the cause and effect. I wish I could just blurt out what I would have without all the other stuff flooding in. I know I would love for every child to have a nurturing and loving start on life. I often think this help solve a lot of our societal issues. But when I think of that then I wonder how it could be done. Then I picture state run orphanage type places molding children with happy well cared for childhoods. I worry that would be the start of a utopian society. So then O am back to wondering what one thing I would change in the world.

    What would you change?

That is a thinker @Ganado Just this week I was reading about Moody's downgrading Canada banks and their housing crisis. It does not look good in Canada, especially since their PM is busy focusing on being PC. I have no clue where I would start to fix what is broken when it comes to the economy.

@ghrit- what one thing would you change and why?

IMHO (since you asked directly) the system is fine, it's the management that needs changed. @Ganado still hasn't answered the question, nor is it obvious what @Motomom34 would change (as long as we are off topic and short on other motivationals.)
