Does anyone here shoot Western Action? Maybe you don't have it 'cos you are 'in the west'? I was invited to a Western Action shoot last weekend, and I went reluctantly. I had an absolute blast. Literally!! What a bunch of characters there were. One old guy called himself 'the Undertaker' and had a coffin that he kept his weapons & ammo in. Another was a big biker type dude with a Mohawk, kitted out like an Indian. We shot round after round of different scenarios at metal targets with six guns, lever action rifles and 12 guage coach guns. Sometimes all in the same round. It was a hoot and more than likely I'll head back there in the New Year.
I've been wanting to do that for a long time now. I now live nearby a club that has it so I think I'm going to make an effort to get into it this summer. I've always been a fan of single action colts and lever rifles
There is a SAS club about 20 miles away but I have never tried it myself. I have wanted to check it out but other projects have kept me from acquiring the gear needed. My cash always seems to run out before I can do all the things I'd like to do.
Never did the SAS thing, but grew up on horseback shooting single actions and lever actions. Then again, this is Texas we get handed them at birth.
Anytime you get trigger time is time well spent. Plus in helps you hone your shooting skills. To bad there isn't survivalist action shooting were we could get together, wear camo, and shoot. Instead of peace makers we could use Glocks, instead of lever guns we could use AKs and ARs and what have you. Oh wait, that has been tried, they called it the militia. It was quickly infiltrated and squashed. DOA
Och Aye sounds like it would be fun but I'm sure there would be a few too many rules...being a militia. There were enough rules in Western Action for me thanks. Not really a rule person. Mind you the sound of the AK might just make me go all silly and buy cammo.
