I was going to pass this down through the family, but things have changed.
My son has decided to pop the question, but doesn't have what he needs for the ring.
The girl is gem, and is highly approved by us as well. We want to help him with the ring.
Up on the block is my Sterling worth 12ga. SXS (pics to follow) it is 100 years old, fully functional just as the day she was made. I have had a gun smith check it out thoroughly, and have hunted with it for the last two years. It is safe for 2 3/4" slugs through the right barrel and shot in the left. Forward and rear triggers, with a central safety.

All markings are quite clearly stamped, and serial numbers all match as originals.
It it dear to my heart, but my son is more so. All proceeds will go to her ring.

Monkeys have first shot at this. Sterlingworth, is the sister company of A.H.Fox. who made guns that were both ungodly expensive and works of art. Some of his guns sell for several thousands of dollars each. If you can find one for sale.

He was forced by economics to create a cheaper version, but he refused to "pollute" the Fox name, so he created "Sterling worth" out of thin air. Fox guns were made with thin shell English walnut, these were made with American walnut. Fox guns were made with Krupp's fluid steel barrels, these were made with Sterling worth fluid steel barrels, but all the machining of parts were done to the same standards.
My Sterlingworth, is a pleasure to hold, and to shoot, there are no cracks in the stocks anywhere, (the waxed linen thread wrap is for grip/ old timer's trick).

He intends to pop the question at Christmas.........:)

Please PM any and all offers, and let's see just how joyful we can make this Christmas season.

    Possible Grandkid...a much better investment.
Best of luck on the sale and the new daughter-in-law!

Don't sell a shotgun that you want to keep in the family. Why does everyone think you need an expensive ring for a wedding? If they really love each other they will understand that a high priced ring is not an option now and "they" can get one later when "they" have the money. Hate to be a downer, but a lot of marriages end up in divorce so why sell the shotgun for a not sure thing? Hope it works out for you and them!

They have been together for the last three years, have weathered every storm well, and are romantic with eachother. There will be no divorce.
I give them my blessing, and my best wishes, and the best sendoff I can.
If there is anything left over from the ring (her tastes are simple) there are many expenses involved in a wedding.

If you could swap it for a 1 oz gold eagle coin, hack it in 1/2, hit it with the torch and make 2 bands....that would be epic and a story to tell for generations as the bands get passed down instead of the shotgun.
    Double barrel....double wedding bands.

Check with your local Law Enforcement OFFICIAL prior to using your property as you deem fit.

    Just sayin'

"Mah great granddaddy traded an ancient 1914 shotgun for a gold coin in 2014 and melted it down to make these weddin' bands....back then they still had this analog "non-digital" thing called "money"...."

    hehe

My lil' brother got married last year and a baby followed this year....
He blew 20k on the wedding at a golf course and almost as much on the honeymoon....
After our mom passed shortly after her 1'st grandson was born and we were drinkin around the fire he said to me:
"Wish I woulda cheaped out on it all and had that loot in a University savings account....or better yet if he wants to start his own business...." with wide open hopeful eyes.

    That's the real deal....
