One of my seamonkeys caught a big python down in Ft. Lauderdale and put it in a big trash bag and stored it in the warehouse office so he could take it home that afternoon. We had a really nosy little leprechaun that owned part of the company and he looked in the sack to see whatever it was that TJ had hidden and when he saw that snake, he literally shat himself. You could hear him shouting all over Port Everglades; jeeez...just a little 14' snake!

This little feller (only 13 feet) was caught and killed up here in Tallahassee several years back, during a local lake recovery project. It was nabbed in an area we kids used to go into in my high school days!

Now I wonder how long it took to swallow that deer?

I saw a documentry about those snakes in FLA. seems they were abondonded pets and now its a really big problem as they thrive in Fla. I wonder if they would make good survival food. Never ate snake but looks like those monsters could feed a crowed

Wonder if those snakes would make good "boots" that would be one way to wipe them out

They do. The tanned hide also makes an excellent back panel for a jeans jacket.

Humans are not the top of the food chain in Florida--like a few other places. A gator will certainly mess up your day.

Only problem is, from what i hear, they wanted to regulate the hunting of these snake in the glades. a bunch or right wing greeny animal huggers got all up in arms about people killing these invasive snakes that are now killing off a lot of gators.....

    Idiots....

The idiots running the State Goobermint made a big hoopla over the opening of the "Python Hunting", with a bunch of guys getting the license and 'going hunting'. After the first week, the grand tally of snakes captured/killed was..... ONE. A poor bedraggled 17 footer that wasn't quite quick enough to evade Bubba.

As these critters have been 'terrorizing' southern Florida for some ten years or more, and NOT ONE person has even been threatened by one, and no pets have been taken (to my knowledge), I'd say it's "much ado about very little"!
Gators and feral cats and dogs pose much more hazard to both people and the indigenous wildlife.

Before you yell about 'that poor little girl......' - that was her parents utter stupidity mishandling a captive snake.several owners of these snakes have gotten complacent or flat out clumsy handling them - the same thing happens when dealing with ANY large predatory animal. Even horse, cattle and pigs can be very dangerous to newbies and fools.
