Man Claims Skin Treatment Turned Face Permanent Blue

Paul Karason says his face turned blue after using a silver extract to treat dermatitis

Paul Karason puts a whole new spin on "feeling blue.” For more than a decade, the 57-year-old has been living with a blue face.
Fourteen years ago, Karason developed a bad case of dermatitis, which results in swollen, reddened and itchy skin. He started self-medicating, using a treatment called colloidal silver, which is made by extracting silver from metal.
Often touted by manufacturers as a cure-all, colloidal silver usually is found in a liquid form. Looking for relief, Karason drank the concoction and rubbed it on his skin — something the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not recommend.
    His skin slowly turned blue.
    His skin slowly turned blue.
"The change was so gradual that I didn't perceive it and other people around me likewise," said Karason. "It wasn't until a friend I hadn't seen in several months came by my parent's place to see me and he asked me 'what did you do?.'"
The FDA does not consider colloidal silver safe or effective to treat any disease or condition. In fact, taking it could have serious side effects, such as:
    — Argyria — which is an irreversible blue-gray discoloration of your skin, nails and gums
    — Seizures and other neurological problems
    — Kidney damage
    — Indigestion
    Headaches
    — Fatigue
    — Skin irritation
Karason, who recently moved from Oregon to Madera, Calif., said it hasn't been easy living with blue skin.
"I do tend to avoid public places as much as I can," he said.
Karason made the move in hopes of fitting in a little better.
"I hope that they just accept me," he said, "And I think that will happen here. Where I was, I rather doubt it would have. This is different kind of community here."
Karason's girlfriend, Jackie Northrup, said she doesn't even notice his skin color any more.
"The only time now I really think about it or notice it is if we're out in public and people start staring," she said.
So far, Karason hasn't sought any medical attention for his condition. When he was asked if he's still drinking the colloidal silver, he said yes, but much less.

    Another scare tactic.... Booo!

Don't want the sheep making their own antibiotic now do we? The drug companys and doctors wouldn't like that.

I generate my own and use it to ward off the first signs of colds and skin infections.

If it were so BAD why do they now put silver into washing machines, the space shuttle filtration systems, and so many other uses. (the only thing that will stop MERSA)

Read up on the subject, and understand why you can turn your skin blue. It is a result of not processing your CS correctly.

The man just didn't follow instructions, even if he bothered to inquire. More isn't always better.

This "minor" side effect of CS has been well known and documented for years. I notice the article doesn't mention whether his dermatitis was cured either. Since there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of documented studies on the effectiveness of CS in vivo I certainly would not make CS any part of my survival medical plans.

I used it this week, last week, next week, it doesn't do that. Put it on a knife cut this week, better than neosporin. He must be taking the Chinese version. Typical misinformation tactic.

maybe if you hadf aburn then that stuff is almost a lifesaver, from infection that is.

    Hmmm
Watch your sodiumand potassium levels, the stainingisn'tpermanent and 0.5% + iseffectiveforburns antiseptically. If it's above 1% can kill theskin.

It's an old story. He took 100s of times the recommended dose for months. Notice he's alive and still playing with his girlfriend. Try that dose with iron and you'd be dead in a week.

  15. I find it funny we use silver for burn patients that have no immune system yet it is not good for us. As a medic I use colloidal siver for any open dermas injury if its a deep cut I just drink it if its a surface cut or burn I will spray it on. I also use silver sulfadine when neccesary. I had a kid that had burns over 70% of his body from a bomb in his car. I treated him twice a day along with the local doctor because I was the only one around with any silver sulfadine.
I have to ask Pappa Smurf if he has noticed any changes in how his skin light sensitivaty?

I usually make my own, but I have recently been convinced that I can never make a silver colloid work as effectively as I REALLY would like it to. I was shown some information by somebody I trust, and I visited the website. Now, you guys should know that I really don't ever sponsor products unless they are absolutely brilliant. Well, this is.

Take time to read the info at that site. Watch the video and do some research. If you want to, buy some before you won't be able to. This stuff really can save your life, especially with the "strains" of flu going around. This silver solution has been researched by independent labs, it has the data to back it up, and I fully support its use.

I get a kick out of that image, every time I see it. I've been using silver for almost 10 years and have never experienced a problem with it turning my skin gray, blue, or any other color.

Some of the silver protein solutions on the market have high enough concentrations of large enough silver particles, there is a possibility of this happening, but a true colloidal silver solution has very small silver particles at very low concentrations. If you're interested in learning more about silver and its uses, here is another informative Web site to check out - Colloidal Minerals

I ingest silver for sinus infections, I use it topically on bandages as an antiseptic, I've used it to get rid of athlete's foot, I use it as an eye wash I've even put it in a pump bottle to mist the inside of stinking boots. After 9+ years of use, how can I not show any signs of blue skin?

Big Pharma would love to see silver taken off the market, so that's another indication of how well it works!

I also never saw anything like this...And silver is well known for it's bacteria killing properties for long time...There was this experimental procedure for osteomyelitis that included silver needle in the infected bone and negative electricity through the needle...it was successfull then...

I have been using Colloidal Silver to treat dermatitis flare ups for years primarily because the big pharma crap either has side affects, has steroids or I develop a tolerance to it. Dermatologists just say to keep switching products (which means keep going to the doctor to get a referral and a new perscription in most cases). CS is the only product that can provide relief each time that I use it. It isn't the fastest or is it a cure but it works to bring the flare ups down to a tolerable level for me. I have not turned blue or any other color or grown a third eye.
