first off this is not the group buy thread. I will put it in the classifieds when it happens.

This is just to narrow the field down. they have way to many products for me to do a group buy in everything. So I say lets pick like 7 items to do the group buy on. They are coming out with some nice new products. including some nice full tang knives and multitools.

    Would you all be interested?

What products would you be interested in? This is going to take place fairly quickly once we get the products picked out.

I have a Gerber Multi-Tool (the Suspension) (one of about 15 from different mfrs--mostly Leatherman...yes, I have a multi-tool problem). While I find the Gerber to be the most ergonomic (everything is convenient, easy to access, well thought out), the problem I have is that the steel is brittle and not very sharp (compared with Leatherman and SOG). Perhaps they have a new line-up with different steel.

I think they're fine for urban living (opening a box, tightening a screw), but, I would not want to have that as my only source. The Leatherman Surge is what I carry with me on a daily basis.

Parenthetically, I just bought two newly released Leathermen: the Sidekick and Wingman. They SUCK! Sent them back...bad ergonomics and not very useful.

Be aware that some of Gerber's products are being made in China now.It wont be stamped on the blade either, but printed in small lettering on the box/packaging.

Good point. I'm not sure if I got a China or Taiwan model. In any event, given the option (and I used to never care about this), I will now always select products made in the U.S.A.--like Leatherman...and some SOG stuff is made here, but their ergonomics suck.

I hear a lot about "the trade deficit" and China and how that contributes to people being out of work and politicians blaming "evil corporations." I don't...I blame myself for continuing to buy cheap stuff...so, now I check around more and try to buy something made in the U.S.

I use to be a BIG Gerber fan!!That was untill I got a fixed blade Gerber Profile. It will neither take,or hold a sharp edge.
I thought"Wow"!!A Gerber for$18.99!!Now all I can think about it is the phrase,"What's seems to good to be true, usually is!!".
As I've said before, most American branded blades that are made in China are inferior crap!!
Unless their older U.S.made pig stickers,I'll no longer buy new Buck,Case,Old Timer,S&W,Hummer,Sheffield,Fiskar,Gerber, and K-Bar blades.
For the half the price I'll buy Chinese branded M-Tech.Other than having to loc-tite the screws,I've never had a problem with one. They take, and hold a razor edge, and I havnt broken a blade on one yet,and I'm fairly abusive to my tools.
If I do break one of the M-Tech's,I can toss it with out any guilt, becouse the cost of replacing it is little.
Beside's I'd rather send my money directly to the Chinese than to an American company that sends our jobs overseas, and then marks up the cost of a product thats identical to the Chinese one, just becouse of their name being on it.
American branding doesnt mean squat,if the product isnt made by Americans.
    SORRY FOR THE RANT!!

    (1) Mark II !!!!!!!! (Who wouldn't want one of these classic blades?)
    (2) Prodigy (Just the standard one, not the Tanto) You can't have too many of these, they are built tough. If they were cheaper, I'd have a couple more of them.
    (3) The new LHR (Gerber says they are made in the USA)
    (4) Guardian back-up knife (I've had one for years and like double edge blades)
    (5) Strap cutter in any color
    (6) Epic or the Basic drop point
    (7) Freeman Guide, fixed blade, drop point, fine edge.

I think Gunbunny is on to something with the Mk II. I'd like one of those.

Look into the Freeman blade changer, I bought one a couple of years back and absolutely love it. The only knife I always carry hunting, it feels good in hand and holds a great edge. I have a kershaw blade changer and its cheesy in comparison.

    Love 'dem CONDOR"s!
May NOT be made here, but they sure as heck are NOT made in CHINA either!
We have a couple and they are very nice!

I have one... snapped the knife blade the first time I used it... a year later I noticed a crack around the hinge pin for the pliers... the good news lifetime warranty the bad news... I'm pretty rough on tools but this ones a bit too fragile
