Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm Brett and I'm from Australia. Have been concerned for some time now that I won't be ready when the SHTF. This looks like a good place to start.

Proper Mindset is probably #1 on being a survivor, followed close behind by a reliable source for water. In my opinion cities of any size other than very small towns are death traps. Too many potential Zombies when things go sour. . Tell us a little about yourself.
Oh good an Australian. I got lots to ask. I know Australia has strict gun control. Does that concern you in case of SHTF? I also read the Tomorrow series by John Marsden. I know it is young adult reading but it is something to ponder on. Is Australia so disarmed that that scenario of a foreign invasion plausible? Are you prepping just to prep or a scenario. Economics, global, war or if I was in your area I would definitely have a in case of earthquake or tsunami stash prepared. Anyways welcome aboard.
We are virtually unarmed now, been that way for a while, Xbows in WA banned, slinghsots (banned), only a few have Guns and have to belong to a club Some Aussies ( Son and myself) have Recurve bows and a number of arrows for different occasions, managed to get three slinghsots shhhh, we are heavily policed for weapons, bot allowed to carry pocket knives unless work related, no Baseball bats etc unless going to or from a sporting event Trouble is the Crims and thugs out there don't abide by any Laws and have Guns and all the other banned items, why I went with Bows, quiet don't have to worry so much about running out of ammo, and as of yet not banned Have an assortment of Martial Arts weapons here, so hopefully whoever tries to break in won't have a Gun, just loaded up with stupidity
Welcome Brett, there is much to learn here, and we can learn from you as well. Disarmed . That is the route we are headed, if we allow them to ban any type of weapon. Once they get away with the taking of weapons, they will not stop until we are truly sheep. Give them not one type, not one gun, not one round in the magazine. It will not satisfy them, and like chumming for shark, will bring them back for more. Brett, does your law ban the sale, possession of, or the making of weapons? We can make a gun, but not resell it. we can own weapons we are not allowed to use for their intended purpose. And while we could be banned from owning a piticular weapon, it could be made from parts. What does your law actually say?
Thanks for answering, I do wonder if your weapons ban was the work of a few or if the whole country was for the disarmament. I have notice that many that live in the country areas prefer to just live their lives and many ideas seem to come from the urban areas. This stuff about a sling shot being bad is absolutely insane. They didn't leave the good people much but a boomerang.
