Rahm is a former member of barrys inner-circle and if barry had his way we would get the same thing.

Keep in mind the south and west sides are drug infested war zones.

Emanuel, aldermen ask taxpayers 'to take medicine' to cure 'municipal illness' - Chicago Tribune
-A record $543 million property tax to pay for police and fire pensions. An additional $45 million property tax hike for school construction. More than $62 million in new garbage pickup fees. Some $48 million in taxi and ride-share fare and fee hikes. Another $40 million in new taxes on streaming services and cloud businesses. An additional $13 million in more expensive building permit fees, $2 million to remove vehicle boots and $1 million in e-cigarette taxes.-

-The $543 million property tax hike will take effect in a series of increases the next four years, and people who live in single-family homes, duplexes and three- and four-flats will pay a new $9.50-a-month per-unit fee for trash pickup. The additional CPS property tax increase will mean that, all told, the typical property tax bill will increase by about 13 percent over the next four years. For the owner of a home worth $250,000, that represents about a $554 annual increase. Commercial property owners will pay more.-

    Nice!
And most people are actually dumb enough think that commercial property taxes won't come out of their pockets, so they don't care until prices rise. Then they'll blame that "bunch of greedy capitalists" who own small businesses.

They're trying to do the same here with almost $1 billion in new bonds to be paid for with increased property taxes. Bond election is next Tuesday. I'm voting NO on every one of them. They take the tax receipts they have and blow them on streetcar projects and new soccer fields, meantime the roads are terrible. My guess is that it's pretty much the same everywhere. [soap]
    Rant off

    :sick::eek:
The thing about bond issues is even if they are voted down they come back in a slightly differently worded way but the usually get a good percentage of what they want.

No, not "live in a large city". "Live in a Demonrat/socialist controlled hell hole in a Demonrat/socialist controlled state." Yes, demonrat is spelled correctly. Why do you ask?

Living in the county, of the major metro area, is just as bad IMO. The tax rates are higher and the cities influence spreads like a cancer to the surrounding towns. I live in the heaviest populated county in my state. Fortunately I am in the unincorporated part of the county and considered the redneck cousins of the East.... but we watch those boundaries expand from time to time. It really is just a matter of time before we get sucked into their bigger influence when it comes to rules, levy's, fee's and what have you.

And the U.N., can't ignore that giant pink elephant, either. ;)
Then there's the Vatican. Oh, Japan and China, too while we are at it...and the Queen.
Heck, pretty much every greedy corporation on the planet besides the sovereign citizenry owns property in America.

Well sorta/not really. There are other "taxes we all "owe" on our homes.

They may leave you alone if you are over 65 but what they will do is keep a tally of all assessed taxes and when you die they will collect from your heirs when the property is sold or the title is changed. You never get away from death and taxes.

The actual state of Louisiana does not have a property tax on a person's home, Its the Parish that you live in that levy's property taxes.
Some are high some are low.
Homestead exemption allows for up to 75k fair market value, If your below that, You pay no property taxes.
They have several laws in effect for example, 50% disabled vet. Or if you own more than 160 acres etc.etc.
It's entirely possible that techsar does not pay property taxes.

I live in a county of a major city and yep the city slickers will not leave me alone. They own fancy houses while surrounded by corn fields and I'm trying to start my small farm. We are not mixing well. I have lived here for 2 months and it has been non-stop harassment about everything.
Even the sheriff I have been dealing with is sick of it and has started to relax with me enough that this week when he stopped be he actually agreed with me that these people are nosey tight assets.

I had to build a lean too for my livestock this past weekend. I was there from Sun up to Sun down putting it together. I got all but the roof on and called it a night. Still need siding but you can't have everything. Point being is that it is obviously not finished and still in the stages of being built.
The very next ducking day a neighbor calls to complain that there is no roof!?!?!
No shut you stupid birch I'm not done. So the sheriff had to drag himself over to my place to relay the message. I am ready to paint the damn lean-too rainbow and write "duck you" in big bold letters on the side.

Huh I never realized how the sweat words got auto corrected till now and I can say I am amused.

    I give up auto correct.

Actually, they frown of foul language here. We try to keep it clean enough, that it is still kid friendly. Some members are old, some are young , and some have kids looking over their shoulders. No "F" bombs, and you should do alright. ;)

    Lucky am I!!!
About 4 years ago a State Law was passed that when a rural property became part of a City that no city law that affected the rural farm would be a worry to the owner.
Just call it a reverse Public Domain Law that works for the land owner.
