This might of been discussed before, it's been a law for some time. Fixed blades are OK, Swiss Army is OK but a lock blade will get you locked up. They say due to gang violence. Just a heads up. Thought that was only in Europe! Stinking gangs!

Pretty sad to see this stuff in the home of the Alamo. If those guys who died saw the restrictions today they probably would've just let the Mexican Army in. Heck we have half their population anyway.

When I first heard of this around 82' the Chief of Police was on WOAI and said it wasn't going to be enforced against normal citizens. Cowboys, blue collars, and the like were left alone, and it was only used against the gangbangers. Who knows what they do now.

If its on the books they CAN enforce it against anyone, thats the problem with laws put in place to target problem people. Kind of like the way it was made illegal to carry a concealed handgun, it created in most places to prevent gamblers or thugs from haveing them and was just there to be enforced on the folks creating problems but then since it was on the books was enforced on honest folks who had them for protection.

Some of the lawmakers are just simply retarded. How far will the American people allow themselves to be pushed? I can guarantee you if you have a lock-blade, switch-blade or fixed blade, my louisville slugger will win out. What should we make illegal next? Pencils and pens? Oh, I know, paper. You can get a dangerous cut from paper. These idiots are focused on the implement of damage as opposed to the ones who cause the damage. Anything can be used as a weapon. What about Homer Simpson and his brick on a chain? If I recall some of the gang movies from the 70s and earlier, they used knives, bats, chains and anything else handy.

I just don't get why these idiots waste time and money to come up with trivial laws. I think maybe it's just to make all the sheeple 'feel' safer. Some people just need to frickin wake up. Everything big that has ever been accomplished, started out as something small. All it takes is making one little law bigger and bigger. And I have news for all you from Texas, there's a rat in the corn crib. Texas has been, in my 33 years, the wild west that survived and now I see evidence everyday that even it is succumbing to rediculous and trivial travesties that should not stand.

Hope these things get turned around, or else this country is going the way of the dinosaur.

I have to agree with that. I've watched my great state decline since I was old enough to realize what was going on around me. All these liberal people moving in from all over have all but ruined the place! Greedy realtors (are there any other kind?) advertized all over the world, and brought them here. Personally, I think a good major depression would help us out a lot.

Some of these archaic laws need to be stricken down and a bunch of the new ones as well. Some DA has nothing better to do with his time than to keep coming up with new ideas on how to repress a repressed people so the cycle keeps going. Someday the repressed will get pessed.

I guess things have changed in the 2 years that I've been gone from San Antonio. The last time I was there I was still wearing my buck lock blade pocket knife in a scabbard on my belt and never was told that it was illegal.

I realize I am resurrecting an old thread... forgive me.
I just had a conversation with a friend who is making a custom Bowie and a couple of daggers for me to carry in my boots.
So... that means I will not be illegal, as they are fixed blades?
How on earth are we supposed to keep these laws straight?

I believe that lock blade thing is simple a S.A. city ordinance. There is nothing in state law that I know if that prohibits lock blades, if memory serves me correct a concealed knife blade can be no longer than 3 1/2 inches.
