Since I like me little bolt carbines so much I picked up this CZ 527 carbine in 7.62x39... It's my Mini Scout Rifle. The action is a mini Mauser action, sized just to the 7.62x39. Kinda cute. The barrel is 18.5" making this the shortest bolt gun I have. The 527 is designed to shoot steel cased ammo... and be accurate... Most guys are putting scopes on them and getting 1.5" groups at 100 yrds with Wolf FMJ. No scope for me. The 527 Carbine comes with a V notch rear sight mounted on the barrel which only gives a 13" sight radius. I took the rear sight off and filled the dove tale then mounted a NECG ghost ring (peep) sight on the scope rail at the back of the receiver. Now the sight radius is 21.5". Had to replace front sight with a taller one to work the ghost ring. There was a fair amount of fine filing to get the front sight to fit the CZ ramp and then filing it down to the right hight but I got it done. Today I was able to bore sight the rifle and shot 20 rounds to get it roughed in. I'm hitting right around the bull at 100 yrds and one shot right on the bull. Was shooting off hand. Was in and out of the shop to file and fire a few more rounds and wait for it to stop raining... to shoot some more. It's a nice light rifle, my scale showed 5lbs 7oz with stock sights. The detachable box mag holds 5 rounds so I bought a spare. Will probably pick up a couple more in the future. The recoil is light compared to my No5 clones but there is a bit of muzzel flash. I think this is going to be one of my most favorite rifles.
SICK! I want one. I have handled the little .22, and I get sick every time I remember it from how bad I want one. Are there any magazine size upgrades?
A guy in Austin, TX is selling one on Texas Guntrader, Austin tab, for $580 including rings. Not endorsing him, just saying.
I can't help thinking that any FFL can get one for you, if even they don't have one in stock. CZ is not at all uncommon.
When I went to buy my daughter her first youth rifle I did a lot of research and talking to people. I settled on the CZ 452 .22. It is a great rifle. Very accurate and one that she didn't outgrow like some of the other "for youth" models that were available. She still uses it today. A great rifle. I would love to try other ones.
