My wife and I went to the range this past weekend, and I got to help her learn how to shoot the 10/22. Over a couple hours, she went from not hitting the target (at 25 yds) [and I mean not hitting the big 5'x3' frame at all], to actually getting a 5-shot grouping of about 5" tall and 2" wide.

We'll be going again. She starting to get the hang of lining things up, but she needs to work on posture and holding the rifle correctly.

I hate to push her too much and act like a know-it-all or something worse. A training video might me something to get...

Remeber Rome was not built in a day. You got her to go thats a big first step for most people.

You may want to see if there is a "women on target" function around you. They are sponsered by the NRA and usually a gun club will be the ones putting it on. We (my club) put one on every year and to be an instructor you have to be asked. The instuctors that teach most of the shooting are classed as masters and last year in the rifle range we had two of the states HRT snipers as well as their rangemaster to teach rifle.
They keep it simple and very upbeat but the big thing is that it's someone besides the spouse teaching. Not only that but if she goes and she hears them saying the same thing you said then you look way cooler cause you said it first.[beer]
    Take care Be safe Poacher.

Sounds like she's off to a good start. Keeping it light ad not picking on the technical details is a good thing to keep a new shooter interested and learnig but make sure not to let anything slide on safety issues. This is when some of the habits will be formed and the technical issues can be worked on as they learn but safety has to be there from the first time they handle a firearm IMO.

Glad to hear we are adding more shooters.
