Today, Thursday, June 12, the New Jersey Assembly Judiciary Committee passed A2116 by a vote of 5-1.

As passed, the legislation will ban virtually all firearms over .50 caliber. While the Committee attempted to address some of the concerns of gun owners and sportsmen, it still bans many popular hunting guns, historical American firearms, and large bore target firearms, based on alleged public safety concerns. Included are historical American firearms and replicas, including those from the Revolutionary War and Civil War eras. The legislation makes the fundamental mistake of banning guns based on the size of the barrel rather than punishing criminal behavior.

NJ already has uber-restrictive gun laws anyway, don't they?

And... I don't remember reading in the 2nd amendment, the part that says it's ok to infringe if the gun is a certain size.

NJ has been the number 1 anti-freedom state for the last fifty years, this does not suprise me a bit.

have any of them taken the time to consider that a 12ga is a .72 caliber? This is rediculous. Gun laws made by people who know nothing about guns.

Imagine George Washington's chagrin if he found out the 69 cal rifles his army used were not legal at the battle of Middlesex.

Once again we ban things to make a few feel safe. It just amazes me that more people aren't killed there. Oh well at some point you have to vote, whether it be with your money, going or not going somewhere or with your feet, leaving vs. staying. Leave it if you can while you can and under the circumstances you want rather than leaving when you have too under conditions that you don't like.

    Take care Be safe Poacher.

Anyone hear if Ron Barret has contacted them yet? Sure seems apropriatly symbolic that ther crap would ban the rifles that put the Constitution in place.
