ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.

Recess is "a time when accidents can happen," said Willett Elementary School Principal Gaylene Heppe, who approved the ban.

While there is no districtwide ban on contact sports during recess, local rules have been cropping up. Several school administrators around Attleboro, a city of about 45,000 residents, took aim at dodgeball a few years ago, saying it was exclusionary and dangerous.

Elementary schools in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Spokane, Wash., also recently banned tag during recess. A suburban Charleston, S.C., school outlawed all unsupervised contact sports.

"I think that it's unfortunate that kids' lives are micromanaged and there are social skills they'll never develop on their own," said Debbie Laferriere, who has two children at Willett, about 40 miles south of Boston. "Playing tag is just part of being a kid."

Another Willett parent, Celeste D'Elia, said her son feels safer because of the rule. "I've witnessed enough near collisions," she said.

Oh boy recess, what can we do, sit around and look at one another. No running, skipping, jumping rope, touching, monkey bars, etc. because someone "MIGHT" get hurt.

Oh, give me a flippin' break. Tag, dodgeball, flag football were all apart of growing up. This sue happy society we are in is really getting out of control. No, scratch that, it's not getting out of control, it IS out of control.

Next they'll ban "spin the bottle" be cause the bottle unfairly discriminates for one reason or another.

Next the will ban talking during recess for fear of being sued because a kid said something not PC.

I like the mentality of the school in Texas better that is teaching the kids to attack if a gunman comes in.

This certainly speaks to micromanaging our children's lives. When I was a kid, I didn't particularly like dodgeball so I simply didn't play. It ended the issue for me. Like so many others, I learned how to solve problems on my own. I could go to my parents or my teachers, but I would probably have been told that there were some things in life that I had to deal with myself.

Rules and regulations like this simply raise future generations to expect a higher authority to solve all of our problems. Its one more nail in the coffin burying self-reliance and self-determination.

Ah, yes!! Stickball, and kick the can. Still have a scar on my shin from a well kicked tomato can. But we learned how to get out of the way, if it wasn't a fresh can with the lid cut ALL the way off. Seems like there were a few hands got sliced a bit catching one in the air. So far as I know, not even one infection resulted from all the spilled blood and mud packs used to slow the flow. Seems like there was less worry about kids getting infections if they were allowed to get dirty now and then and build up the immunity.:D

Pussyfying youth is more like it...

Somebody's kid that was it all the time, called unfair rules

Playing dodgeball and tag was the best part of recess, these kids are going to miss out what it's like to be a kid, sad [grlft]

Funny how pain is forgotten, isn't it? Kids should not be spared that experience.

Pain is a fast teacher: Fall off that limb? Change your grip. Run into the tree/rock at the bottom of the hill? Steering adjustment. Hit that cold, cold creek water? Engineer a better log bridge. Yep! Pain teaches lessons that ears don't hear.

My 2 yougest had never heard of Dodge Ball :(, as it's no longer in PE classes, like when I was a kid (which I didn't think was that long ago). C'mon... let's go play; it's a game you learn really quickly ;) !

Chalk up another reason for 'Home Schooling'. Pretty soon they will be loaded onto the buses by two big guys and carefully carried to their seats where they will be safety harnessed in. This will be a five star harness used by race drivers and their heads will be placed in restraints so they cannot look around as it may hurt their necks. Then upon arrival at school which will be hours later as the driver can't get over 10mph, they will be unstrapped from the seats and strapped to gurneys where they will be taken to class and strapped into their seats.

There will be a ban on paper as it may cause papercuts. No speaking as you may say something controversial and this goes for the teachers as well. They will sit for the remainder of the day looking forward. They won't hear anything that hasn't been approved by the Parenting Association of Communista. There will be no pencils, pens, books, paper or any other distractions. Lunch will consist of certified people coming in and inserting IVs into the kids where they can get their sustenance because a trip to the lunch room could injure the child if they fell, slipped, or numerous other things.

All teaching will be conducted by visual stimulating screen broadcasts of a AI teacher on a flash screen so that there is no doubt that the children who have had their eyes wired open will have no recourse but to watch it. There will be no fun, no games, no talking and nothing that detracts from the edumacational process.

The school uniforms which will be in use across America will look akin to flight suits which will be all blue and the schools logo will be NWO. Any alterations to the uniform will constitute a failure to comply with the educational standards and will result in further 'Compliance' training.

This is how the day will go in and out for the duration of their educational processing. It is all meant to avoid harm for the children and to better edumacate them. So all you parents don't have to worry anymore, the PTB given even greater power by all the 'Sue Happy' parents will be taking extra great care of your children.

Take comfort in knowing that when your child graduates there will be a definite job opportunity for them. They will have a place open for them in the ranks of the NWO and as such they will be your personal 'Family Security' monitor. They will monitor all communications, food inventory and will even tell you how to conduct your lives.

So take faith people. All will be made safer for you and you will definitely be taken care of. ;)
