No....you watched her 4 times! though, "it" may have been the part of her that attracted your attention and focus.
The skateboard wheel is a cool idea, but not really necessary. I wouldn't want to carry one around because they're a lot of weight for the momentary utility. But that's just me. If it's the difference between fire and no fire, one should definitely use it. That would probably be a pretty handy trick with an Inuit strap drill, where you hold the bearing block in your mouth and use two hands to draw a wrapped cord back & forth. Note the use of pegs to hold the fire board in place. That works really well. Another little tip I seldom see mentioned is to put a bit of tinder like fire fungus or charcloth under the fire board for the coal to form on. That way even the smallest coals take well.
Survival rarely is comfortable. You want a fire bad enough, you will find a way and bust some teeth/knuckles in the pro-cess..
True. But I think I would rather use a bow first. Potential damaging your mouth could really hamper your survival in that type of situation.
It is an interesting use of a skate wheel. It is in essence, the same as the bearing blocks made by @Bear , but ready made, heavier, and not as nice. But it IS something I've run across as trash when someone breaks their board and leaves their trash behind. (As long as you have the means to remove the wheel from the truck, it's a good trick to know.) Edit: if you chose the carry one, cut it down to just what is needed. That would cut the wieght in half, or less.
Rather than a skate wheel - use a heavy bottom shot glass. I was in a Boy Scout Troop as a squirt - 11 Y/O members routinely used 'fire by friction' sets to generate campfires. It is a learned skill. I'm a flint and steel man myself....less work!
Can hear it all now, all those junior skate boarding preppers claiming that the have the ultimate bug out vehicles.. Low fuel consumption, highly manoeuvrable, light enough to pick up and move over obstructions, And build a fire with..
Odds are, there's a junior gunkid who's thinking those same thoughts somewhere in juvie. Then he may graduate to wheelbarrows!
Would take a LOT of practice before pulling off a drive by... Never thought of a skate boarding gang banger..
A skateboard Drive-By..... Hmmmmm, Would that be anything like a "Float By" Shooting.... That we have around here....
