In the new Start Trek series is about conflict between the Federation and the Klingons. Sounds great so far , but the enemy Klingons are based on stereotypes that the left has about conservatives who voted for Trump. Yes. For real.

I guess they forgot that insulting half of their potential audience might result in a loss of revenue. I'm a long time Star Trek fan, but looks like I'll be passing on this one.

Been reading of this howler on another forum. I will decline watching it. Sounds like one of their script writers imight be that brain-diseased harpy Samantha Bee - it's her style.

Husband stopped watching most Star Trek with Janeway. It suddenly was all soap opera and zero science. The reboots were interesting, but we won't be supporting this nonsense.

There is a New Seal Team show coming on NBC, this fall... I will be watching that, but StarTrek has run it's course, and gone Politico, just to get an audience... But not me...
    I really enjoyed watching "Six"...

Used to be a big star trek fan. Not anymore. I tend to try and keep my entertainment separate from my politics.

Star Trek was and to a great extent, has always been about politics. It's just that lately the writers have gotten sloppy about it.

I don't mind that they are willing to explore, in dialogue, the political divide that we face today, I will mind if it only had the left leaning dialogue.

I will tick me off if they don't discuss or present both sides fairly, e.g. being self sufficient vs expecting everyone else to take cre of you.

Wonder when the "Trump as a Klingon" memes come online?

Latest book out in about six months - "What Happened" by Captain Lorca of the USS Discovery

    Excerpt:
"...The Repubklingons kept denying the computer based predictions that space carbon levels were the cause of stars overheating and creating supernovas. Then they got all uppity about undocumented Mexiferengis settling in some of their more choice planetsand started calling them Illegal aliens. The nerve, and then there were all the micro agressions and finally when a Repubkingon dared to refuse to bake a wedding cake for an Andorean and an Orion wedding on the flimsy excuse of "We don't have bakers, we eat all of our food live" it was time to take action... "

"... The Rebubklingons refused to fight fair, and were still denying Interstellar Warming. They refused to pay the Bajorans after the Federation Justice System declared that their Solar System was threatened by rising space carbon levels. The fact the rising levels couldn't be measured nor that the recorded temperature of their sun hadn't changed was due to space carbon interference of the probe telemetry meant absolutely nothing to them... "

"... AntiKling peace protestors were eventually joined by the Blue Lives Matter Andorrans. No matter how much they disrupted interstellar traffic and waved their witty signs the Repubklingons just kept enforcing their own borders, requiring immigrants to follow citizenship procedures, and let their economy grow without even handing out free communicator badges to the 0% of their population that was unemployed... We finally decided that enough was enough and it was time to escalate beyond protests... "

"...We would have won the war if only we had been on the air for more than a half season before being replaced by syndicated episodes of Gilligans Island. They told us that we had alienated over half of our target audience, but it was that Fascist Bob Denver that ultimately did us in."

I predict this will be a huge flop. It's tripe and doesn't even read well. Garbage.

Tried to watch that one and just found it incredibly boring, but not in a good way. A good boring show will put me to sleep. A bad one is just annoying and not conducive to sleep. As far as Star Trek Discovery, if it ever gets around to Netflix or Hulu I'll give it a try. I haven't read much about it so as to avoid spoilers in case it does get around to Netflix or Hulu

Star trek has always been politically charged.
The serries the klingons were the Russians.
The star trek movies, Russians, anti nuclear, save the wales, environmentalism, maybe a little climate change.
DS9 was affirmative action and peace in the middle east. Look at the guy running it and the bazaar like atmosphere with all the different aliens trying to agree just to not kill each other over differing ideology.
    Voyager, lol.

If Kan in the newer star trek movie is supposed to be your typical trump supporter I'm ok with that.

The latest Star Trek TV Series is total crap.

Now, the last two MOVIES...I thought they were pretty fantastic.

I've been itching for some Star Trek for awhile now. Haven't heard many good things about Discovery though so was going through some different youtube stuff and found this video that does a pretty good job of summarizing what's up with the different story arcs and what is ST canon and who owns it. All in all it seems to be a pretty good synopsis. Probably only interesting to real nerds.

The age of the woman, so it seems. The trouble is, they only intend to tear down the perception of man in order to usher it in. Every sitcom you will find a weak and pathetic, stupid and ignorant man married to a brilliant wife. And the cartoon crossovers are pathetic. The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, and on and on. Hollywierd has even employed female directors like Kathleen Kennedy to destroy the male aspect of the film and use the heroine as the only champion, and Luke became a whimpering tosser only to nearly murder his disciple and then fizzle out in an incredible display of sudden aging for using too much of the force. Honorary Oscars and awards are showered on Kennedy, while the fans remain vehemently opposed to the direction of the franchise. I don't think we're raising boys to be men anymore, we're raising cucks to be submissive to women, and it's both sad and a little frightening.

There's nothing wrong with uplifting women. The problem is, they're doing it by destroying the image of men, in a terrible, feminist way.
