Stupid UPS & USPS delivery system

So I've been patently waiting for the delivery of some reloading items for about a week. The sad part is the package has been in town since last Friday (it's Wednesday now). Every day when I check the status I see "Scheduled deliver updated to" and it's the next day.

First of the package was shipped UPS, and got to town in great time. Package was shipped on 6/5, got to Memphis that night. Then all went downhill as the UPS handed the package off to the USPS. Yeah, who ever thought it was a good idea to let the USPS deliver UPS packages?

So I contacted UPS, they said,"well, the USPS has until tomorrow to deliver it, according to the tracking information". Reall? when I told them on Saturday the tracking said delivery would be Monday, on Monday the delivery would be Tuesday, on Tuesday it was Wednesday, and now today it says Thursday. What does that mean? UPS only response was "if it doesn't get scanned by tomorrow call the shipper". Really? the shipper did their part by handing my package off to UPS, UPS has dropped the ball on getting this package delivered!

I'm debating if I should take bets if tomorrow the tracking says it will be delivered by Friday:mad:

At least it's still tracked. About a year ago or so, I had several packages show up as "delivered", but nothing on my security camera shows a delivery. The USPS man either dropped it at the wrong address, or kept my packages. Upon inquiry at the post office, the post master there said there was nothing I could do except cry about it. Essentially, filing a complaint will result in nothing happening, so there's no use.

I hope you get your package.

I ordered a pelican case a few weeks ago, and had the same thing happen. UPS kept saying on their website it would be delivered the next day. I called UPS they said call the shipper. Luckily I ordered it through Amazon and they resent it without any problems. The day the case actually arrived from Fed-Ex I got an email from UPS saying the package had been sent back because It was undeliverable..... UPS has become Incompetent in my opinion and the USPS can just rot in a warm warm place.

Wow, you reload for the 25-20 too? small world :)

Yeah the shipper said call them in 2 more days as the carrier had 10 business days to deliver. WTH, takes 8 days to send the package 5 miles (if that from my USPS office)?

Good luck in your delivery...try not to shoot the delivery man!! USPS is just one more of the broken divisions wasting tax payer dollars

5 Miles? Go get it in person, and raise hell with the man in charge. I would. Much harder to ignore in person.

I live in Alaska - and we get screwed big-time on delivery costs. I've had folks quote me $35 shipping on a $4 dollar item. UPS will only deliver next day air, and some companies use a crazy UPS to USPS.

I've had things mailed via USPS and delivered in 4 days, the UPS/USPS took over two weeks.

If a company offers shipping via UPS, they are likely locked into using ONLY UPS. I ordered a couple of items this last week, on both I had to track down a vendor that would ship via the post office...

We have everything delivered to a PO box, to reduce/stop theft. Seems to work.

We've been having our Amazon orders shipped to our PO Box, but this time we decided to see if they'd come to the house. They did, but when I was 'checking out' on Amazon I had to click twice on Ship To This Address because it didn't recognize it. UPS has refused to deliver packages to us before, and we've called and talked/complained to UPS and the last time, they said it was an internal (computer) problem and they're not going to fix it. Luckily I'm guessing the delivery driver is familar enough with our area to handle it. But FedEx/UPS deliver late afternoon here(5ish), so come winter it'll be after dark. But it sure beats having to get to the post office(it's also 5 miles from us). Gurney's coming UPS is stupid though, UPS just lets the packages sit around. It could have been here 2 or 3 days ago, or even today, but they're letting it sit in Klamath Falls. Should be here tomorrow at least. And it's the last order from Gurney's we're doing. These are our replacements for the crap they sent us that died, thanks in part to UPS thinking LIVE PLANTS don't need to be rushed.

Scheduled Delivery Updated To:Saturday, 06/15/2013Kellory, due to my work schedule and location of my branch USPS office they are closed by the time I get there. I'm going to see if I can find a number for that office and call them. Trying to use the tracking number provided from UPS for the USPS results in "no records found".

Actually, this probably isn't a matter of the USPS delivering a UPS package, but, more likely, of the UPS being contracted to move the package from point A (close to the shipper) to point B (close to you). The postal service has actually determined that moving some packages is cheaper that way, since the UPS has their ground delivery long-haul trucks going that way anyways, and can move it cheaper than the USPS could haul it. They have similar deals in place with Fedex and DHL.
Not sure about where you live, but everything here has gone to the USPS hauling everything 2 hours away, to a distribution center, where it's sorted and then delivered to another distro center close by to where it needs to be delivered. Sadly, even letters/bills that are delivered here, in town, have to go that route! This, after they built a multi-million dollar distribution center here, in town, just about 5 or 6 years ago! And they wonder why they're going broke? Pretty sure it's due to all these "cost saving" decisions they're making!!

natshare, this is package was sent via "UPS Sure Post" and all I know is either UPS or USPS has dropped the ball on it.

I did call the local post office, no luck. They can't find the package and since the USPS tracking number from UPS is not in the USPS system there is no way to track it. When I call UPS they say it was "delivered to USPS" and they no longer have it.

Looked at tracking this morning and the delivery date had the biggest jump yet - now scheduled for Tuesday

Fed Ex isn't any better ..... possibly worse ..... had a wrong delivery for a pain in the azz neighbor .... I'm not making the delivery for them .... call Fed Ex and report the error .... nothing happens ..... package is still laying around the third day ..... make a second call .... "It either gets picked up or it's the garbage can tomorrow" ..... finally the Fed Ex driver hits the neighborhood .... circles around for half an hour and ignores my shouts & waves .....

hint to Fed Ex .... hire people that actually attended English class for that high school diploma .... being able to a make a 3 pointer on the playground court ..... doesn't get the job done

OK, sent an email to midway telling them the 10 business days had passed and no package. Check again this morning and the delivery date was bumped yet again to tomorrow and the USPS tracking number still does not pull up in their system.

That's probably the best idea. Let Midway handle the claim. Once that's initiated, all shipping parties involved will figure out where the package really is, and either admit they lost it, or get it to you.

I only made my last post so you would be aware of what the postal service does, sometimes, to ship a package cheaper. Seems like every order I get from Sportsman's Guide comes "Fedex Smartpost", and usually shows up 2 days AFTER the "expected delivery date".

yeah, in order for something to show up after the "expected delivery date" the date would have to stop moving. Everyday it seems to move ahead one day.

So, I contaced MidwayUSA last week to report a lost package. The first response was "we show it will be delivered today, please give until the end of the day to report a lost package". My response was asking for PROOF it would be delivered that day, and I sent screen shots of UPS tracking and USPS non-tracking.
The next email I got was one saying my order was in processing and expecting to ship that day, via UPS Ground (no USPS). Then an email apologizing and asking that if I get both packages then return the second one.

Well, here is the tracking today:
